Once again TVW-7 won the week overall (0600-2400) for Total People witha commercial share of 41.7%, followed by STW-9 with 29.8% and NEW-10with 28.5%.
TVW-7 took out thirteen of the top fifteen programmes forTotal People with the News, Today Tonight, Packed to The Rafters, FindMy Family, The Zoo, Dancing With the Stars, Home And Away, Crash SceneInvestigators and Better Homes And Gardens. The season finale ofDancing With The Stars had an average audience of 195,000 people anincrease of 4.6% from the previous week.
STW-9 had the other twoprogrammes in the top 15 with Monday Domestic Blitz and 60 Minutes. TheTwenty20 All-Stars cricket match on Friday Night had an averageaudience of 135,000 people to kick off the start of STW-9’s Summer ofCricket, but failed to win its timeslot again TVW-7’s Better Homes AndGardens.
The top rating show for NEW-10 was the repeat episode of NCIS,which had an average audience of 152,000 people, a massive drop of16.6% from the previous week.
Ten’s News At Five continues to performwell with a peak average audience of 121,000 people, taking out 4 ofthe top 5 daytime programmes for last week.

There are two weeks left of the “official” survey period for 2008. Asthe above results show, the Seven network are in a good positionnationally. It appears as though Seven will end up in top position,however, not by a large margin – with Nine in second and Ten third.
ABC NEWSPAPER FIGURES
The latest ABC audit figures have been released for newspapers whichresulted in the Sunday papers especially suffering declining figures.Top line numbers as follows:
• The Australian increased 2.2% Monday-Friday and 1.3% Saturday
• The Financial Review was slightly down – .05%Monday-Friday and 1.8% Saturday
• The Daily Telegraph – down 2.1% weekdays and 3.4% Saturday and down 2.8% on Sunday
• The Sydney Morning Herald down 1% Monday-Friday and 2.4% Saturday and down 4.2% Sunday
• The Melbourne Age down .2% Monday-Friday and 1.4% Saturday and down .1% on Sunday
• The Melbourne Herald Sun down 2.4% Monday-Friday and 1.3% Saturday and 4.2% Sunday
• Brisbane Courier Mail was .3% down Monday-Friday, 1.9% on Saturday and 4.7% down on Sunday
• The Adelaide Advertiser was down 1.8% Monday-Friday, 1.5% Saturday and the Sunday Mail was down 1.5%
• The West Australian was down 2.7% Monday-Friday and 3.7% Saturday
• The Sunday Times dropped 5.9%
ABC MAGAZINE FIGURES
The most up to date ABC stats have been released for the 12 monthperiod ending September 2008. Weekly magazines have experienced heavycirculation losses as follows:
• Famous dropped 18.36% year-on-year
• ACP’s NW was down 15.28%
• Woman’s Day lost 13.84%
• OK! Dropped 10.16% of its sales
• Zoo Weekly was down 3.83%
• Who – sales down 6.55%
Circulations for Take 5 and That’s Life were stable.
ROY MORGAN READERSHIP SURVEY RESULTS
The latest readership survey results are also out now. Some weeklies,notably OK! And Zoo Weekly showed growth as did food magazines (DonnaHay and Super Food Ideas) and the home and lifestyle category (BetterHomes & Garden, Belle). Some of the biggest decreases wereexperienced by women’s weeklies, fashion (Marie Claire, Harper’s BazaarAustralian Women’s Weekly) and business magazines (BRW, Time and MoneyMagazine).
THE WEST AUSTRALIAN TO LAUNCH ONLINE RETAIL CATALOGUE
The West Australian will launch a new online retail catalogue under thename WAEasyShopper early in December. EasyShopper is a service limitedat present to advertisers using The West Australian, Seven DaysMagazine or The West Magazine. Advertisements will be listed under oneof 14 different retail categories and will go online the day followingtheir appearance in one of the above publications. Advertisements willstay online for seven days unless a shorter period is required by theadvertiser.
The EasyShopper site will be promoted every day on the front page ofThe West Australian and with a more detailed quarter page advertisementinside. The promotion will last for a minimum of three months. In itsinitial form only advertisements from the newspaper or magazines willgo online but in a second phase, mid 2009, it will be possible toinclude multi page catalogues an
d TVCs.
GRAZIA OUT PERFORMS EXPECTATIONS
Grazia, the new weekly fashion title, has successfully achieved itstarget of a 70,000+ circulation in its initial audit. This came despitethe economic downturn and highly competitive category. The magazine hasonly been out for three months, and has already eclipsed categorycompetitor Famous.
The performance of grazia.com.au has also been successful with anincredible 9,830,512 page impression in its first three months. Graziamagazine and website are part of the ACP list of publications.
