“I’m working, really” – Paul Yole’s Cannes Diary
Brand Agency planner PaulYole is heading to Cannes for a third time and will report for Campaign Brief.
Opening Dayminus 3: This year I’m going to hunt down anyone with a differentopinion worth noting so I can report back to the blog. I hope to avoidusing the word ‘content’ altogether and even ‘stories’ and’conversations’ may be a bit on the nose.
I’m hoping to find people with something to say that is genuinely freshand provocative, whether that is in the seminars, at the bar or on thestreets.
Twitter will come up for discussion and maybe, justmaybe, someone can shed some light on it for me. The interesting thingis that wi-fi at the Palais is REALLY slow and data roaming isenormously expensive so I wonder how many people will be doing realtime Tweets? Not sure I will be one of them, but you can follow me(Tennyson) if you are keen.
Other interesting perspectives I’mhoping to cover are from R/GA, Goodby, Leo Burnett and Contagious, 180Amsterdam and Digitas. And of course Kofi Anan and Barack Obama’scampaign manager, David Plouffe.
Sitting here in New York thereseems to be a genuine lack of enthusiasm for Cannes this year -probably because the networks have stopped sending hoards of delegatesand have pulled their parties.
For the rest of us, I’m sure there will be as much inspiration as always.

‘Working?’ Just keep saying it Yoley, it might come true 😉
The only people Tweeting will be millionaires, all the free wireless seems to have disappeared into some kind of Global-Economic-Meltdown-Black-Hole this year.
11 entries in Outdoor from Perth and Matt Eastwood on the jury? Wadd’ya reckon our chances are of finally picking up metal in 2009?
Eastwood’s not on the jury. Belgo took his place.
Matt Eastwood’s pulled out.
Ah well, that explains why we did so badly then.
