IKEA ‘Crossword’ press is Perth’s only Finalist at this year’s New York One Show
Marketforce are the only Western Australian agency to make it through to the finalist stage at this year’s New York One Show awards. The One Show is one of the big 4 international festivals.
Marketforce’s finalist is for IKEA ‘Crossword’ in the Newspaper Category. The ad was created by creative team Guy Hamilton-Howlett and Julia Elton-Bott.
In total Australia had 18 finalists at One Show. Droga5 Sydney and Saatchi & Saatchi, Sydney leading the agency pack, both with three finalists, followed by Clemenger BBDO, Melbourne and Publicis Mojo, Sydney with two apiece.
Predictably, the Aussies did well in the beer category, with VB ‘The Regulars’ viaDroga5 and Boag’s ‘Pure Waters’ via Publicis Mojo, Sydney scoring twofinalists apiece. Droga5 also scored for VB ‘Raise a glass’, whileClemenger BBDO, Melbourne got through with Carlton Draught ‘Drop theBomb’ and Pure Blonde ‘Dove Love’.

Are you referring us to this particular paragraph 8.13?
“The One Club defines “fake ads” as…ads created expressly for award shows that are run once to meet the requirements of a tear sheet.”
Surely you’re not suggesting…no, you wouldn’t be saying that…oh dear…

We all know the background to the West Competition. MF are not trying to get away with anything here. 8.13, 8.34 and Fauxy Lady I’m betting that you have created ads for the competition too.
i think its a great idea that grew from a great comp! any idea if The West Caxton Competition will be on again this year???
Across
1. Precious metal; rhymes with bold.
MF is lucky to have you guys! Well done Julia & Guy!
Jesus, what the hell is wrong with you people. The work is good, it’s not a scam and I believe that this version is the client version. And Julia and Guy are really nice guys (see what I did there?)
Sounds like there’ll be a few agencies boycotting the West Caxton comp this year eh?
Chill out 8.25 no one is saying it’s a scam.
But, it did run just once – at no cost to the client – so it could be entered into awards. So technically, according to One Show, it’s a ‘fake ad’.
I think it’s contentious, even though I like the ad and don’t begrudge them anything.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I think it ran more than once because the client loved it. I was also told that they built one in-store. 2:48, before you ask, no I’m not from MF but I do have good friends there. If you’re not boycotting the Caxton comp then are you going to refrain from entering any awards should you win?
Put up or shut up.
Bit confused by your over-sensitivity 5:41, and your logic as to why I wouldn’t enter any awards in case I win. And what am I supposed to ‘put up’ exactly?
Maybe when you calm down, you can explain yourself like a rational human.
Until then, I’ll keep working on my WestComp ideas in the hope that I win.
It’s irrelevant if you boycott or not if Julia’s entering again.
Well done Julia and Guy. It’s a great ad and deserves all the recognition it gets.
And a clio finalist-go g&j
8.56AM – “Until then, I’ll keep working on my WestComp ideas in the hope that I win.”
