Hameister resigns from The Brand Agency
The Brand Agency’s most senior writer, Des Hameister, has resigned. He gave Brand’s senior management the requisite three months notice on Friday and will depart from the agency in mid-August.
Hameister told Campaign Brief he has not been approached by another agency and that it was simply time for a change after fifteen years with The Brand. He has been the agency’s most reliable award-winner and has worked on most of The Brand’s top clients over that time.
Long-serving account director Colin Mackay-Coghill is also leaving the agency mid-year. Added to Adam Marshall, who left at the end of March, it makes three departures from The Brand’s senior ranks this year.
The Brand Agency managing director Steve Harris was relaxed about the moves.
“Des has just clocked up his fifteenth year with the Agency. It’s avery long time in one job with one agency and he feels it’s time tomove on and try something different. He’s given us three months noticeand will be with us until August.”
“If there are any great writers out there looking for a job then people should get in touch.”
“Colin has been a great contributor to the agency and key part of oursuccess and growth. He’s chosen to head in a different direction and hehas my full support. We’ve been talking about this change for some timeand he’s given us heaps of notice which means we have implemented asmooth transition for the Agency and our clients.”
“We’ve probably got the most stable staff base in the Perth industry,so from time to time you are going to get some change. I don’t see thatas bad for the business, indeed it’s actually a positive,” said Harris.

Brand don’t deserve you, Des…you’re too good for them anyway!
If Des and Mal ended up at the same shop… would that be too much manners at one address?
I’ve got news for all of the speculators out there. Mark Fretten is NOT being replaced.

Did the Brand Agency put up for the Lottery account and will these recent departures have a baring on the placement of the account. It the Brand were 1. part of the pitch or 2. even being considered?
You rock, des
