Gatecrasher out to reignite people’s passion for marine protection in the South West
The Federal Government is about to make the country’s biggest ever conservation decision when it decides whether to establish a network of marine sanctuaries in the South West of Australia. However, the draft maps have left almost all of our inshore waters unprotected, ignoring many hotspots that are frequented by endangered marine life.
To create awareness and encourage community action, Gatecrasher has created two full-page press ads that launch this Friday.
David Mackenzie from Conservation Council of Western Australia said: “At the most critical point in the campaign, we needed to both reignite community passion for marine protection and make Canberra-based decision makers sit up and take notice. These ads nailed it.”
West Australians have until 8 August to register their concern with the Federal Minister for the Environment. For more information, visit saveourmarinelife.org.au
The ads were created by Des Hameister and Stef Langton

Nice.
Well done fellas!
Really powerful, these will work a treat, should create some good public debate.
good work, good cause – powerful message!
The oil companies will love them… Not!
Great work guys.
Meh.
This is an important topic that is getting completely ignored. If I hadn’t seen these here I wouldn’t have known this was an issue. Like the creative but question whether or not some better media could have been chosen – eyelites in shopping centres with concerned mums? A bit of chatter on Facebook and social marketing cheapy campaigns?
Not enough people are reading the West day in, day out to get this message out there in this format. Needs some guerrilla marketing/smart PR thinking to support it in my humble opinion.
But great work for press.
I’m sure if I took that to Adam he would say ‘you’re trying to hard…’
I don’t get this game sometimes….
Nice work fellas.
Great AA radio too Mr H. Very nice indeed, well done sir.
Gee, you’d think there was a local award show coming up or something…
Nice work Guys!!
Nice work, easy to spring from.
p.s. Ahem, better media 9:01? What better media is there than a depressing tabloid that tells the average citizen of this redneck state what to think?
