Fretten farewells Perth

303 senior writer Mark Fretten is leaving the agency to return to the UK. Fretten (along with art director Mike Sequeira, who is remaining in Perth) was headhunted by 303 in 2005.
Fretten told Campaign Brief “We’ve had a good time here in Perth and last year in particular was a good year personally for me, winning at Cannes, the EFFIES, finalists at AWARD, the CB Awards etc. But we originally planned to come out for 3 years and, after 4 1/2, the UK beckons again.”
He will leave Perth mid-May.

Never had the pleasure of meeting Mark but certainly know of and admire his work. The creative bar will be lowered when he leaves our fair shores.
Deep breath, I’ve been lucky enough to have worked with Marky for nearly 14 years. In that time I’ve seen the ideas, campaigns and the brands that he has been part of just get bigger and better.
He’s a bit of an odd-ball to work with, and at first sight he doesn’t appear to be doing much but in the background the cogs are whizzing around in that strategic shiny head of his that has delivered truly differentiating big ideas, the highlight in Perth probably being ‘Love where you live’ for IKEA.
Mark’s a rare breed being part writer/planner/suit/retoucher/typographer/director/casting-agent/stylist/curry-aficionado/bassist/stand-up-comedian/know-it-all. . . the list could go on. . . but one thing he is not is boring and every day he has managed to come out with some completely spontaneous random quip that has me laughing to bursting point.
He’s never been one to sit on his laurels or his awards and now Perth’s loss is going to be London’s gain, I just hope whoever is lucky enough to pair up with him has a strong pair of cheekbone muscles, waterproof pants would also be useful.
