This is starting to become a joke. This campaign will be remembered as the most awarded worthless campaign of all time. Look at the data on people speeding. IT IS NOT WORKING. Taxpayers money is being wasted. And now this. FFS! Talk about self indulgent.
A thought. All the voting came from staff a Lowe 303. Just a guess.
That sound like and idea from an account service team member
What about an app that tells you when an advertising idea goes too far into la la land?
As a consumer, I think it’s a GREAT idea. It brings good press and more exposure to the campaign.
7.35 AM,
The ‘data’ actually shows this is working.
WA had 28 fewer speed-related deaths in 2011 compared to the previous 5 year average. That’s a lot – a 38% reduction. Obviously it can’t be simply attributed to advertising, there’s been significant increase in police presence – but it’s a significant dip nonetheless.
Also, the Southbound promo had minimum spend, and relied largely on existing facebook audience and infrastructure to make it possible.
Dull idea at best.
This is embarrassing.
Would’ve been better handed out at festivals as experiential.
7.35. Yes. Why don’t you look at the data. You probably should have before posting your comment. You are a dill.
Hey 8.17. Name calling is not cool dude. I
Your creating a great award winning campaign. Nek minnit….
Why do you say that about 7.35? He/she is right. Have a look at the real numbers. Not the stats that make the campaign look like it’s working. Forget the speed related deaths. That’s an easy number to fudge. How many people have been caught speeding since the campaign stated. Have people slowed down? NO. They have not.
I do like the idea…it’s simple but get’s to the point – chill out music in the car. Nice. Wasnt there a study done overseas that proved heavy metal/fast beat music stimulated the driver’s mind in a way that made them (sub-consiously) increase their speed? I am sure it was a study revelead a few years back. However, there are two things I thought of when reading this article…Firstly… There is a tad over 2,000 followers of the “Enjoy The Ride” page. If you were encouraging the followers to vote, then the reach is very low. Please tell me you at least used Facebook ads to increase this reach??? How else was this promoted? TV, Radio, music rags?? If so, please explain. And secondly….I was actually interested in downloading the playlist (the only thing stopping me was the fact it was going to cost just over $37 to buy it!) That is a joke, you wouldnt spend more than $30 on an albulm (if you were the kind to PAY for music ). Wouldnt it have been nicer to download the albulm FOR FREE?? eg maybe you could have rewarded your facebook followers by allowing them to download the albulm for free….if you are not a follower then cap the cost to $25. (This ammount of which would be donated to some cause – like counseling for trauma victims of car accidents.) ORS would simply need to cover the cost of all the albulm download/artist royalties etc. Think about it…most of these songs have been out for months and alot of people already have them…why would you pay for it?? When you are also targeting a youth audience dont you think they would, a) already have some of the songs, b) prefer to download it for FREE??
