Equilibrium creates a new world
November 23 2011, 9:28 am | | 22 Comments
Adventure World, via integrated agency Equilibrium, has launched its new website featuring a brand new visual style partly inspired by travel posters from the 1930s. Equilibrium creative director Gordon Haynes said it has been designed to introduce Perthlings to a world that is out of this world.
The site was built using HTML5 to work across multiple platforms and a mobile site, also developed by Equilibrium, has just gone live. The site has been well received with visits up and bounce rates down. It’s also just been nominated for a Pixel Award. Illustrations were by Scribbles.

Nice work guys, good to see the move away from flash to the adoption of HTML5. Great coding Shannon!
They should check their links before a site goes live… the subscribe button doesnt work
In regard to the AdventureWorld site. I’ve just updated my chrome to latest version. I just checked the site. I don’t know why HTML5 site doesn’t seems not work in my chrome. Is anyone else having this problem?
Every time I play the AdventureWorld HTML5 videos or audios, it just doesn’t play and the bar never moves forward. Loading is fine, and if I drag the bar in a video, it does show the correct image.
Nice job guys. A few technical issues.
Well done, guys!! +1 Martin re:HTML5
Nice work Gordo-welcome home!
Thanks Donna….NOT!
The Adventure World site is very strange…I loaded a new pc with Linux Mint 11 and downloaded the usual Google Chrome. This worked fine…even the distro I made from this copy was installed on a other pc and that work just as great. Later I wipe the same pc and started a new distro with the same programs…suddenly I get this ¨ download interrupted ¨ and I have to load all pages twice. I also noticed that this happens right at the end of the file. For example if a webpage is 500kb…it will stop loading around 480kb, same with downloading files.
I would say Google Chrome is stable..itś just not compatible with something I installed…Could be the kernel update I did..Google is aware of this problem. Please join the discussion below for updates from users like me and from the Chrome team. A fix is available in Chrome 14 dev. You can either wait for it to become stable, which is expected to come later this year; or you can upgrade to Chrome dev or install Chrome Canary. Just remember that dev and Canary are both less stable than the stable or beta channels, so watch out for unexpected bugs.
Download Chrome dev: http://www.google.com/chrome/eula.html?extra=devchannel
Download Chrome Canary (PC and Mac only) (installs separately from other Chrome installations): http://tools.google.com/dlpage/chromesxs

Hope this helps!
Sorry guys. The problem is Chrome. Working on getting it fixed.
Downloading with Chrome is a real problem. You can’t renew interrupted downloads. The built in downloader is much slower than Flashget.I can download 4 times as much with Flashget in the same amount of time.It would seem to me that allowing an alternative downloader should not be too difficult.Right now I’m using Chrome to browse and Firefox to Download anything larger than 10 mb.
Nice illustrations. Who did them?
Boo, subscription fail – but that has been resolved, so subscribe away, Donna.
Nerdypants, the videos are hosted on YouTube, so not sure why they aren’t playing for you. Of course, you can always visit Adventure World to see the real thing. Can you hear Kahuna Falls calling? It’s saying, “Swap your Nerdypants for Nerdyboardies and come frolic in my tropical-themed waters.”
It’s a hot day. I’m on my way.
Malcolm Lindsay from Scribbles did the illustrations and did them brilliantly.
No subscribe yet… I tried again (Using IE) but the page doesnt go anywhere when you click on the link….
Check links before you launch websites!!!
nice work – great site!
@Donna
Go whinge about broken links at port80, we’re ad people, all we care about is the nice shiny idea. You nerds can worry about whether it works or not.
Easy Not Nerd. Donna has every right to comment. If the site isn’t working it’s not her fault. She is just letting the guys know. It’s not just about you ad people. Us nerds have feelings too. Hey it’s nearly 11.30. Aren’t you going out to lunch for the afternoon?
I’ve just been blogging all morning and this came up on another thread. Then someone dropped a message on FB. Twits going nuts. Everyone is getting behind @Donna and they are all against Not Nerd. Let her speak Not Nerd. Creative verses technology. Use IE. Check links before you launch websites. It’s basic.
Don’t get sloppy.
Go Donna. We’re all behind you here in the back room.
Whatever, put your headphones on and get coding.
I am on my way to lunch… and when I get back to the office I’m going to polish my latest award before having a nap.
That site better be finished when I wake up.
Hi Donna. What can we do to behind this creative verses technology movement? Nerds are sick of been treated like dirt. Maybe we could set up a website or a blog? At our agency we are going to go into the creative department at lunchtime and swap all their screen savers. We have already digitally printed Not Nerd is a Terd t shirts. We’ll do one for you @Donna. What size are you?
You’ll be pleased to know that subscribe works for IE users. Apparently it was a p tag issue. Little devils those p tags.
A big thanks to Donna. It’s tireless link-checking work like hers that keeps the internet safe.
Beautifully crafted website. Looks good and the writing is spot-on too. Love the details.
