Cooch on The Gruen Transfer tomorrow night
Cooch Creative Director Ron Samuel willbe appearing on ABC’s The Gruen Transfer tomorrow night presenting the agency’s effort in The Pitch – the segment where twoagencies are given a brief to sell the unsellable.
The brief was to create a tourist commercial for a town in Canadacalled Asbestos. As the name suggests, the town is home to one of theworld’s largest asbestos mines.
Samuel said the brief was difficult in many ways, not least being the sensitivenature of the topic.
“We didn’t want to offend or upset anyone watchingwho has been effected by mesothelioma, so had to be particularlycareful.”
Cooch goes up against URSA, whose Denis Mamo presents the agency’s entry. Mamo shook up Perth advertising in the early 90s when he and creative partner Adam Lance spent a year at Marketforce.
The Gruen Transfer airs at 9pm on ABC 1. If you miss the episode, you can catch it online here.

Forget about being sensitive Ron, the judges award on the basis of entertainment value. After all, they’re part of a show that lives and dies by ratings.
Good luck mate!
mmm, can’t wait to see which of the two cheap, obvious puns ‘wins’.
that show is truly giving us a bad name.
Loved the second one, sorry Ron
Next time Ron climb a ladder and get your tits out , Or let somebody sniff your crotch. Should do the trick.
I think we’ve got a photo of Ron with his tits out in the CB archives. I’ll see if I can dig it out.
