Cooch Creative has been invited back on the hit ABC TV show The Gruen Transfer, to take part in the final Pitch segment of  ‘Gruen Nation’.

Gruen Nation is a special four week series that has followed the election campaign and each week two agencies have been asked to come up  with a political ad.

The brief given to Cooch was to create a jingle based commercial for  Liberal leader Tony Abbott. Cooch Creative CD Ron Samuel said it was an interesting challenge.

“Gruen Nation is being done in real time and our commercial goes to airthree days out from the election,” he said. “So we had to build on whathas already gone to air over the past three weeks.

“Our ad isn’t a one-off. It’s part of a campaign that has consistentlypushed the Liberal’s action contract so we had to build on that.”

Samuel also said the jingle wasn’t an excuse to move away from the tone established by the Liberal party.

“We’re not selling margarine. We’re selling the Liberals. This wasn’tthe  time to try and tell a story with a sing-a-long. All we wanted todo was reinforce the fact that he is all about action. Where Julia istalking, Tony is doing. That’s the message we wanted to drive home.”

The jingle was written by Cooch with Dave Moran from Whiz and recordedat Hamdon Studios. Additional vision was shot by Whiz with formerAustralian Idol finalist Chris Murphy providing the vocals.

The final Gruen Nation airs tonight at 9pm on ABC 1.
