Clios for 303 and The Brand Agency
303 and The Brand Agency have scored statues at the Clio Awards presented this morning (Perth time) in Las Vegas.
303 won a Silver in Radio for Royal Life Saving Association “Kid’s Perspective” and a Bronze in Print for IKEA ‘Sliding Door’ (pictured left).
The Brand won Bronze in Radio for Perth Zoo ‘Find Your Animal’ campaign – “Black Hat”, “Lil Penguin” and “Otter” – which recently won the national Siren Award as the best radio campaign of the year in Australia.
Along with D&AD, One Show and the Cannes Lions, Clio is one of the ‘big 4’ award shows around the world. Campaign Brief publisher Kim Shaw said it was exciting news for the WA industry.
“Perth had a fantastic result this year! There were only 16 statue winners from Australia this year and Perth got 3.”
Grey Melbourne won a Gold statue in Radio for its Victorian Transport Accident Commission ‘Pictures of you campaign’ written by former Marketforce copywriter Brendon Guthrie.

Kick ass – great stuff.
If Kurt is God, I’m really religious now !
Wow, CB. I was beginning to wonder how you could possibly get a mention of Marketforce in there and, bingo, you surprised us all in the last line. Nice work!
If Kurt is God, I’m really religious now !
4.10 – I hope you don’t work at 303 or Brand. If you do you need to take a look in the mirror. One day you might do well in a larger market and we might read it here. Thankfully you won’t be around to make stupid comments.
It’s a great achievement for Brendon and good on Martin for writing about it.
4.10 you really need to get over it.
4.10, as the Tourism pitch proves, you should look further than our little neck of the woods and realise you’re in competition with agencies across the country. Maybe that will lift the standard of work you do and then maybe then you’ll be given the chance to do work as good as brendon.
Good onya 4.10, I don’t work at 303 or Brand and I still think this ‘One Agency Town’ bullshit is damaging to Perth.
I wondered what it would take to start the Marketforce avalanche of responses. Thanks for raising a smile on a Friday!
8.31, 7.43 here. I don’t work at marketforce. I just hate small town, small minded attitudes.
amen!
Onya 303.
Onya Brand.
Onya Brendan.
I work at Marketforce and I bloody well love it. I am constantly laughing at how many of you totally hate us. Its hysterical, yet incredibly sad, that you and others like you 4.10, spend most of your time on blog looking for something negative to say about us – get a god damn life and move on. Nobody here gives a rats arse what you or any other agency in town is doing – we’re just getting on with our work, etc. And what makes your rantings even more pathetic is how most of us are friends in the industry no matter what agency we’re from. But I spose the blogs would be so boring if small minded somewhat jealous idiots like yourselves didn’t have a hissy fit everytime MF was mentioned….
Brendon Guthrie is a brilliant ex MF, WA ex-pat who deserves everything he gets – not because he was from MF, but purely because of the person he is and how talented he is. He happens to be ex MF – good on him and lucky for us we got to draw from his talents here in the agency.
4.10 I know you must have a small Mr Winky – but its not our fault – truly. Go blame someone else.
Onya Anonymous
Yep. Brendon was at MF, what, 4 years ago at best? Why is it even remotely relevant? He has been at a few other agencies since and they didn’t get a mention. The reference should have been that he was formally a writer in Perth. Just weird is all – and tenuous.

Brendon is a top fella, as irrelevant as that is but you could count on one hand people who would use the phrase ‘love it” and MF in one sentence – trust me!
2.19/Petal.
It is fairly likely that 4.10 was simply fishing for responses like yours. Don’t give them the oxygen they crave. Unfortunately until CB do the right thing and ban anonymous posting this is going to continue to happen. You should tell the rest of the anonymous posters at MF who rose to the bait the same thing. DFTT
I swore I would try not to make gratuitous comments on this blog but I sincerely hope 6.28 and 4.10 don’t work at Brand.
If you do, please come see me to discuss.
We should be very proud of what Perth agencies and our ex pats do on the world stage. 22 radio statues in the whole world and Perth agencies plus a Perth trained writer won three of them.
Surely we should all be aiming to be up there alongside them.
To accuse CB of MF bias just because they mentioned it is ludicrous.
Honestly, you’ll give me grey hair:)
I don’t really understand why people think either 303 or Brand would post about Marketforce when they have just picked up awards internationally. Doesn’t make any sense. Well done to everyone who won, wherever they work or worked.

it sounds as if the drinking started a little earlier than usual on Friday. Pretty excitable stuff. Also, perhaps a little paranoid!
The Mr Winky line is a bit of a giveaway.
Lets try and stay focused.
Well said Paul.
2.19
Yes, most of the anonymous comment is pretty lame but I honestly believe if you stop the anonymous comment this blog will dry up.
For every five useless comments there are several worth listening to. and that is why its worth keeping.
Perth Zoo also made One Show Finalist and got In-book at D&AD.
Has this been mentioned in the blog anywhere?
In-book at D&AD is a massive achievement. Well done to all involved.
10.33
Ralph Van Dijk who produced/engineered the Zoo spots also chaired the D&AD radio jury and then attributed the work to his own shop Eardrum. The Brand Agency is nowhere to be seen on the credits list. Make of it what you will.
Huge congrats to them on the One Show and Clio though.
10.33 More info please!
Martin/Kim,
Is Perth Zoo, Perth’s most awarded campaign ever?
10.33
It was a footnote in the post about Marketforce getting a new coffee machine
I love the Perth Zoo stuff and good on you all at the Brand but you need to settle down a tad.
All credit to you but no fucking way is it Perth’s most awarded campaign ever. My vote is your Enjo book. Then that brilliant Melville Toyota TV ad. Then the Perth Zoo radio.
Take the rest of the year off Brand 🙂
3.53. What the…
3.53PM
Don’t get them started again…
a new coffee machine? where? chance would be a fine thing!
1.38PM
The coffee machine was later revealed to be a scam, put together for the Kitchen Sink Awards. It was a kettle in a cardboard box.
Josh and Kurt well done!.. again 🙂
