Channel Nine launches Footy WA this Sunday
Channel Nine Perth announced today it has a new AFL show, Footy WA. Produced by Crocmedia for Nine Perth, Footy WA will kick off this Sunday, August 31 at 10:30am immediately after the Chevron City To Surf For Activ, then each Sunday at 11.30am ongoing on Nine Perth and throughout WA on WIN TV
Nine Perth Managing Director, David Mott (pictured) said Footy WA further confirms our commitment to bringing local programming to the people of Perth and WA.
“Crocmedia have terrific experience producing other football related programs and we are delighted they have agreed to produce Footy WA,” said Mott.
Sunday Footy Show compere Craig Hutchison will host Footy WA. Each week he will be joined by a raft of great WA footy figures including former AFL coaches Chris Connolly and Scott Watters. The show will focus on West Coast Eagles, Fremantle Dockers, WAFL teams and local amateur footy with in-depth discussion of games, teams and issues surrounding the code in a vibrant and provocative style.
Crocmedia Executive Director Chris Giannopoulos said Western Australia is a passionate footy market where a localised footy show is warranted.
“Footy in Western Australia is its own unique beast and deserves its own native focus,” said Giannopoulos. “We are committed to bringing football to communities right across Australia, and Western Australia was the next logical market to enter with such an avid footy following,” said Giannopoulos. “We couldn’t be happier that we are unashamedly bringing West Australian footy to the community.”
The show is the latest content offering from Crocmedia into Western Australia, which includes radio shows Sportsday, The Locker Room, Off the Bench as well as Off the Bench TV, and live broadcast of AFL each weekend through regional Western Australia.

Hutchison (based in Melbourne) will host? So the show will broadcast from Melbourne.

I have just watched the first episode of the show and I hope that Scotty Cummings gets his facts right in future. He stated that he didn’t agree with the alignment because it didn’t work in 2000-2 when East Perth had a 3peat. The facts are that East Perth only had the non WA players at the club and in 2002 this was reversed and some of these players were transferred back into the other WAFL clubs.
Who would watch this? Maybe WAFL die-hards 50+ WAFL became chronic with the advent of the Eagles and died with the arrival of the Dockers. Sunday league stuff now.
