Chair of Judges Rebecca Carrasco to give insight into The Skulls 2015 judging from 5.30pm tonight

And in other news that isn’t football-related … Judging for The Skulls 2015 took place over two days in Sydney last week. In a major shake-up to the judging process, the work was taken to Sydney to be judged by three specialist juries chaired by Rebecca Carrasco (pictured). The new format allowed for greater consideration to be given to all work following another strong year for entries.

“Breaking the judging down into three specialist areas meant that nothing got glossed-over in what can sometimes be a hurried process” said Carrasco, “Whether the work is in or out, the decision was properly deliberated and the results reflect the keen eyes and thoughtful views of the juries. I think we were hard in some areas but generous in others; depending on the quality of the work. And it was pleasantly unsurprising that the best idea, across two days, three specialist areas and four judging panels, still wins the night.”

Carrasco is making a flying visit to Perth to give the local communications industry an insight into the judging at a drinks event to be hosted by Nova at Meerkats this evening from 5:30pm.

Agencies, clients and PADC members are encouraged to make a last minute effort to attend the event at Meerkats, 588 Hay Street, Subiaco from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

“Because of the fluid nature of football fixtures over the last few weeks, finding a time and a place for this event has been tricky to say the least but we felt that it was important for the local industry to have the opportunity to hear Rebecca’s insights,” said Gavin Bain, PADC Patron, “She has been a extraordinary chair and hearing her thoughts on how she approached the judging is something at shouldn’t be missed.”

Reports from the judging indicate that it will be an exciting night Friday, October 23 at Fraser’s, Kings Park as Pete Rowsthorn once again hosts the Awards.

“The judges have found work worthy of high praise across all juries, but more interestingly, it seems to be a year of depth with a lot of solid work entered, so it should make for a great celebration of the breadth of commercial creativity in WA,” said Mark Braddock, PADC President, “And I would encourage those who have not yet purchased tickets to do so as early as possible this week because in all likelihood the show will sellout soon.”
