Catalogue campaign to be Meerkats first for IKEA
Meerkats’ first project will be the 2011 IKEA catalogue campaign, which will be launched in September according to a statement released by IKEA WA and SA Marketing Manager Nigel Richardson.
“Meerkats is a vibrant and creative agency. We think they’re a good cultural fit for IKEA and really understand our brand values and needs. We’re very pleased with the agreement that has been reached with Meerkats and our partnership represents an exciting opportunity for both organisations,” said Richardson.
“The IKEA approach is to always explore new ways of doing things differently and making sure we’re getting the best possible results and value. Achieving better value and efficiencies in our business allows us to pass on the savings to our customers.”
He said over the last 12 months, IKEA WA and SA has broadened its use of advertising and marketing specialists including working for the first time on a digital campaign with Market United.
“IKEA stores around the world tend to work best with smaller creative agencies and this is an approach that we think will work well for our business.”

Well done Meerkats! What a perfect fit for your Agency – global campaigns beckon – At last those construction instructions will make sense!
Meerkats on fire!! *Yowch!*
Digital at marketforce has fallen over since a number of key people left the digital side in the past 6 months. It is no surprise at all that they had to move to MU for help.
Gavin Bain must be thrilled with his career change!
Good work Meerkats. Can’t wait to see the work.
Change is good
It isn’t just clients that drive business it is empowered staff that make a great business.
Great work to team Meerkats!
What a fantastic marriage! Congratulations to both client and agency – and congrats to Bainy – totally deserved.
Hey I must be living on another planet. Didn’t even know that Marketforce had lost the account. Good on you Meerkats.
Some clarification needed here. Has Meerkats won a project (the catalogue) or the account? From what their marketing team are saying it sounds like the former. If it is the latter, that is pretty shoddy treatment for Marketforce
9:14 – perhaps Marketforce hadn’t lived up to IKEA’s expectations? Business is business. I doubt IKEA would have made a decision like that if Marketforce were performing up to their expected standard?
If Marketforce has lost IKEA they must be pretty nervous about LOTTERYWEST. If that goes then heads will roll. DALE, LANDCORP, IKEA, SGIO, TOURISM…
The whole industry should be afraid of new Marketing Managers who want to make their mark
I heard MF were sacked with a letter dropped off at reception just before the announcement. Yowch!!! They must have pissed off the client big time.
8:05 – why should the whole industry be afraid of new marketing managers? perhaps some agencies should but not the whole industry – that would be silly.
You seem to feel the need to express an opinion without actually having one!
7.51 – So when is the Lottery decision due. It’s very quiet out there.
8:05 – new marketing managers wouldn’t change agencies if they were getting the best service from that agency.
7.24 – July I think, but not sure of the exact date.
Martin, can you tell us?
7.24. I think the contract expires in August, but you think they would have put the decision to bed by now?
Lotteywest contact expires in October. They have been taking a hell of a lot of time deciding. Makes me think a change might be a comin’….
This time around the tender is split into four bits-design digital creative and media. I think you’ll find that the enormity of the task of actually going through all of those individual submissions is what’s taking the time.

wouldn’t the split suggest they want to change, at least some of the accounts.
It seems unlikely that mf will retain all.
9.58. correctamundo!
Retain them all or any? if MF lose this one – the future doesn’t look very 870 to me……..
correctamundo! is a great word – I’m going to slip that into a meeting this week for sure.
2:22 if they lose this one, it’s a whole new ballgame!
