Here’s this year’s Outdoor Grand Prix winning campaign. The campaign of three was created by Anomaly New York.

Over the past few days Campaign Brief has been very busy with their coverage of this year’s Cannes Advertising Festival. If you want to get a better taste for the festival visit our sister Campaign Brief Asia and Campaign Brief Australia sites.

I see a nipple!
The only thing this campaign did was confirm my belief that anyone who buys Diesel’s over price poor quality clothing is an idiot.
If anyone can explain to me why this is good let alone lion worthy I’d really like to know.
What an expected Perth comment. Because you shop at Target you just wouldn’t understand….
Line could be better. Be stupid? It sounds really clumsy. I don’t think it’s quite right.
yeah but 12.39, 11.30’s right.
How the fuck is this a grand prix winner?
Ok, we’re not an official fashionista state, but really….
wattafugginjoke…
As a ‘ keen’ typographer I have to say I’m not a big fan of the gutter in the tit ad headline.
If the brand name on these was JEANS WEST would they have won gold let alone Grand Prix?…just wondering.
4.47.
What on earth are you going on about? As if Jeans West would ever run stuff like this. It wins because it is brave and interesting. It gets to be like this because both the client and the agency strive for the same thing. We struggle even to keep the clients here due to our unfortunate and arrogant tendency to think the first idea is good enough and that craft is something we sail in at the weekend (4.37 type is supposed to look crap – clue is in the tagline). I can’t think of a single Caxton Comp ad this year that came even close to the ballsy fuck-you tone of voice this campaign successfully delivers. And this wasn’t a one-off scam piece created at no cost or risk to the client. It ran all over the place. I like it.
Turf munching and watching girls get their kit off. Now thats what I call a brief.
Done the Diesel shopping recently and yes its expensive. I also agree with Tinning, just wouldn’t be the same with a Jeans West label. On the upside this just proves to me what an incredibly sexy brand Diesel is. I love the name and would wear the product even if it fell apart after a few months – stupid I know.
PS I hear Troy Buswell was disappointed he did’nt get the gig.
@5:37
Well said. You’ve absolutely nailed it. Someone asked on another post why WA print work doesn’t seem to crack it often in the big shows and I think you have summed it up completely. ‘Nice’, ad-geek, one-off, scammy print ads will do OK in the lesser shows, but the main game needs big, chunky and brave work nowadays. Asian scam has wrecked it for all of us.
12.39
Sorry to be so expected, but I am also open minded and curious. And you seem really smart.
Care to explain why asking your customer base to Be Stupid is brilliant and deserving of a Lion?
Well said 4:47.
7:37 Asian scam is not the reason we don’t win big awards. We are simply not good enough and we don’t want it as much as others.
And D&AD, One Show, Clio, LIA are not ‘lesser’ shows when it comes to the quality of judging. Cannes is the easiest show to get a finalist at.
I don’t really get it either…
I did my last clothes shop at Billy and Rose, perhaps I should have gone to Target seeing as I must be an idiotic Perth moron who doesn’t understand advertising.
I might use the money I save on my next clothes shop on an ad course so I can become as enlightened as all the awesome anonymous posters on this blog.
For what it’s worth, I like boobs in ads.
Do you have to be gay to work in a Diesel store? I was served by a ‘nice boy’ who was as camp as, with nice yellow pants. The rest of the male staff appeared to know him quite well too.
Maybe build a campaign around using the line ‘would you like a slice of lemon with those’ – hey just an idea.
No issues with the gay thing, just an observation.
It’s ballsy, yes.
It has tits, awesome.
It just doesn’t seem right we should be arguing over this – it’s just not that good.
I love this campaign, but it looks like we will see much better at this year’s PADC.
I shop at Target and I really liked the campaign. I’m so confused.
