Let’s start a book! Predictions please. I’ll start with best TV. Um…
Camel Girl best TV
Ikea or Burswood for best press
Murdoch uni for best radio
Best print.-IKEA Crossword vs Burswood Poker hand. And the winner is…
Out of home ORS Brain.
TV – Camel
Best TV campaign – HBF
Print – Burswood
Print campaign – Life Saving
Radio – Murdoch
Radio campaign Murdoch
Online – Jesus
Out-of-home – ORS projections
Burswood or Ikea for sure in print.
Ikea tv campaign will have a chance as I can’t think of any other tv campaigns at all.
RAC SOS spot for radio
Pam Anderson for TV.
Wasn’t Jesus a 303 Sydney client?
Not many great high points in this lot is there?
You creatives would be lost without the West competition.
12.58 What’s Jesus?
camel isn’t TV, it’s online. It has a good chance. But the Jesus online is great and i think that brief would have been a tougher one to crack.
The only definite for me is the ORS projections.
Print is a toss of the coin for Poker and Ikea
TV is tough but if HBF wins for campaign, i’ll shoot myself (as I feel like doing everytime i see these depressing and manipulative ads)
While i’m having a go at HBF i may as well ask if anyone else finds the consecutive 3 page full press ads in the West recently an unbelievable waste of money? Not only is there 3 pages, they are the most unengaging ads with multiple call outs of uninteresting copy.
What a lovely idea to have 3 consecutive pages. What a waste of an opportunity. How can this be from the same people who do such a tight and well executed campaign like iinet?
2.06 Jesus is the Son of God. Not a client.
Camel has hit TV.
2:13 Camel ran on TV and online.
PS. Get your gun ready…
2.12 Do you mean that in a metaphysical or a philosophical sense?
Small point for you Camel lovers. I can’t see a jury of this calibre voting for it.
(well done CB on getting these people to judge)
How about the 7pm project or the talkin’ bout my generation viral for digital?
I am happy either way.
But my Father damn, I hope the crossword ad doesn’t win – I fucking hate it.
Dear Jesus
I pray that Marketforce will come up with a decent ad outside of the West Comp.
I pray that Brand will at least try and be creative.
I pray Meerkats will stop acting like @#$%*!& who invented advertising and planning.
I pray 303 will use at least one local director this year.
And I pray that next year our creative output is much better than this year’s ads that all deserve to be sent to purgatory.
Amen
I think everyone has forgotten about Ryan and Chu’s ‘Tear’ ad. Multiple award winner in all shows late last year!
Great judges! Well done CB! I wish I had some work entered this year.
I can’t understand why ‘Hump Girl’ would be a chance?
Can someone explain to me why some of you think this ad is so brilliant?
I’m with you 7.50
Hump is a joke for ad of the year.
Not even TBA guys would vote for it.
unbelievable waste of time and effort for a you tube ad
Reading that one of the judges created Honda Cog made me want to watch it again. Brilliant.

The Brand are the cleverest agency in Perth. All the judges no this and will vote for thier work.
Dead right 8.44 & 7.50. The new RAC tv has more of a chance.
ORS brain will win outdoor
Yeah I agree 9.16. They do some really far out rad ideas. Like the beer, dear, brassiere ad. And the Enyo book.
4.59 may you rest in pieces
Well 7.50. It’s brilliant because it’s different. Brand have a habit of doing things we all hate but judges think otherwise.
Forget about doing ads that are effective. It’s a waste of time and doesn’t look good on the agency reel. It’s about doing an ad that stands out and wins awards.
Remember the PADC a year or so ago?
Something about a brassiere?
I personally cannot stand the ad. I think it’s purely self indulgent.
However I’m not a judge. So don’t be surprised if it does become TV ad of the year.
These camel Girls are so much better.

7.46 is right. tear has been judged against ikea crossword and has outperformed it. But the question is whether Poker is a more cleverer use of the media than Tear?
I think the judges at the CB awards tend to get it right more often than the judges at PADC. Most of the stuff they picked last year went on to win internationally unlike the debacle of that year’s PADC (whatever happened to all the Brand’s work that triumphed – Toyota, Enjo?) Put it down to Kim and Martin having the connections to pick judges who are still actively judging elsewhere.
um sorry but Steve Back judged at every international note worthy show last year and the only thing from last years Oasis to progress go the international stage was IKEA sliding doors which we all know was the highlight of the Mandurah Mails massive ad spend.
actually 12.32, Kid’s Perspective radio and Ikea Garbage both won internationally as well
7.51
Cannes doesn’t count here in WA. Didn’t the CB campaign of the year also win at the Effies? Pretty spot on judging all around.
