Burns moves to Meerkats
Rikki Burns has joined Meerkats as a Senior Creative. Burns’ appointment is the second hire by new Chief Creative Officer Martin Beecroft and sees her join the creative team under new CD Josh Edge, with whom she has had a long partnership at The Brand Agency and Longtail.
“Rikki joining us to work with Josh in a senior role is just the perfect addition to the new team”, said Beecroft. “Having seen what a great partnership Rikki and Josh have been and knowing how creative her work is, we’re all extremely excited about her joining Meerkats. The new team is starting to take the shape I was aiming for when taking on the role of CCO, building a group that combines our creative and design thinking teams into one exceptionally talented bunch”.
Burns departs Longtail after 5 years as Head of Art, where she took a senior role on brands including Lotterywest, Amnesty International Australia, Kellogg’s, The University of Sydney, St John Ambulance and ECU. She previously spent 7 years at The Brand Agency, on campaigns for RAC, Bankwest,Curtin University, Perth Zoo, Channel 9 and Drug Aware.
“I’m very proud to have been part of the hugely-talented Longtail team. I wish them all the best, and can’t wait to see what they get up to in future”, Burns said.
On moving further up the road to the ‘Kats, she added, “I’m excited to work with Meerkats’ legendary strategy department and to bring some fresh thinking and digital experience to their creative. They’ve alwaysbeen an agency that I’ve respected and enjoyed working with on Lotterywest. It’s unfortunate that I continue to have to look at Josh’s face, but maybe the new office lighting will help soften his fine lines and wrinkles.”
Burns was part of the team that created Perth’s most awarded radio campaign ever – Perth Zoo ‘Find Your Animal’ (with Kurt Beaudoin and Josh Edge), and has won local and international awards including the $20,000 Radio Writers Award, AWARD pencils, Silver Sirens, PADC and Campaign Brief Awards.

Nobody saw that one coming!
Congrats Rikki and Meerkats – match made in heaven!
Beecroft is such a visionary joining two people who have always worked together…what a brilliant move!
Rikki! Rikki! Rikki!
?
Well done to the guys, but the issue with all these recent “no brainer”-type senior hires is that they just move local creatives from one building to another across the city. Opportunity knocks for Longtail.
Too right Ho Hum, who would build an agency future by hiring people who have worked together before? like who would hire Neil and Guy, Dave and Craig, Ben and Pat, Mike and Ronnie, or Bernbach, Koenig and Krone. What idiot would hire Jobs and Ive if they could. So dumb Beecroft zero vision. Meerkats hire ho hum now.
Oh Rikki you’re so fine, you’re so fine you blow my mind. HEY RIKKI
