Brownes Yoghurt ‘A Natural Silence’ campaign by Meerkats takes out PADC Skulls Best of Show
It’s been a big night for Meerkats and their client Brownes at the 2016 PADC Skulls tonight. Their ‘A Natural Silence’ campaign for Brownes Yoghurt picked up Gold and Silver in Film & Television, and the big award of the night – Best of Show.
The awards were accepted by the campaign’s creators Dan Bradley and Paul Coghlan, both of whom left the agency earlier this year, along with Strategy Director Melanie Wiese.
A Natural Silence also picked up Gold in Sound Design for XB Studio’s Xoe Baird, Silver in Direction for Beautiful Pictures’ Renee Webster plus Bronze in Media (Best Sponsorship or Partnership).
The other star campaign of the night was Marketforce’s ‘Stock Footage‘ for Vulture Culture Rottofest, which won one Gold and three Silvers.

It was a strong showing by Marketforce, which picked up another Gold, Silver and two Bronzes for Chicken Treat ‘Betty‘, plus a Bronze for last year’s PADC Call for Entries campaign.
Agency-wise, Campaign Brief’s reigning Challenger Agency of the Year, Block, led the way with two Golds in Brand Design for Festival Fromage and City of Mandurah, plus seven Silvers and five Bronzes – its best ever result at the Skulls.
Other Gold winners were J Walter Thompson with its ‘Tough Enough‘ integrated campaign for the WA Police Union and Longtail for St John Ambulance ‘CPR Hero‘.
And The Penguin Empire’s Grant Sputore won Gold in Direction for Asian bank UOB ‘Our Values Define Us’ (Right By You).
It was a quieter night for 303 MullenLowe (2 Silvers; 4 Bronzes) and The Brand Agency (3 Bronzes) but it was good to see some unusual suspects on the winners list including Juicebox, Ad Impact and Gettin Hectic.
In total, there were 101 finalists across 22 agencies and production houses over 23 categories, with 9 Gold Skulls, 21 Silver Skulls and 33 Bronze Skulls being awarded.

Congratulations to Xoe Baird on winning a Gold Skull for the meticulous sound design on that spot!
A great night out! Thanks to Danielle and team for all your hard work. Our Best of Show skull has gone walkabout sadly. If anyone has a spare or remembers seeing one in a bush just give Gavin a call at Meerkats or email gavin@meerkats.com.au.
Skull found. Thanks to all who connected and helped.
Three bronze skulls at the local awards is a very poor showing for a top three agency. Surely the Brand have to change the creative formula sooner rather than later?
