Brendon Guthrie to Chair The Skulls 2014 Jury
Perth ex-pat and Ogilvy Melbourne ECD Brendon Guthrie (left) has been chosen as this year’s Chairman of judges for The Skulls presented by the PADC. Other jury members are Jim Ingram, joint ECD of cummins&partners and Linda Jukic CD of Hulsbosch, Sydney.
“It’s great to have Brendon back to judge,” said Mark Braddock, PADC President. “He’s one of the great stable of Perth boys and girls done good. He brings not only an understanding of the local market, but great experience in creating campaigns that cut across traditional and emerging media. He’s someone who loves great ideas and is a brilliant ambassador for the PADC.
“With Jim and Linda rounding out the jury, it is going to be a group with diverse experiences and strong opinions that should make for a rigorous jury dynamic.”
“What I’m particularly excited that this is a jury that, combined, have won pretty much everything there is to win in our industry, but they have done it with real world work for real brands and they have the respect of creatives and clients alike.
“Entries for The Skulls 2014 open on Monday August 11 with the award night on November 7. For the first time the Awards will be open to all-comers, not only PADC members, with categories vastly expanded to accommodate the realm of digital and experiential work being done. This will bring The Skulls in line with the national and global trends and sync much more tightly with AWARD on a national level and D&AD internationally.”
BRENDON GUTHRIE
Executive Creative Director, Ogilvy & Mather Melbourne
Ten years after leaving his native Perth, Brendon found his way to the Executive Creative Directorship of Ogilvy & Mather Melbourne in 2013.
His decade-long journey through the Victorian advertising landscape included six years at Grey, where he created campaigns for the Simplot’s John West and Leggo’s brands, AXA, Worksafe and the TAC, including the globally awarded ‘Pictures of You’ and ‘Ripple Effect’ anti-speeding campaigns.
Moving to the Group Creative Directorship of DDB Melbourne in 2009, he assumed responsibility for the agency’s flagship clients, including Origin Energy, Treasury Wine Estates, ANZ Bank, George Weston Foods and PZ Cussons.
At the beginning of 2012, Brendon made the move to JWT Melbourne, again as Creative Director, working on Ford, Vegemite, TAC, Quit, Cancer Council Victoria and the Federal Government’s ‘Shape Up Australia’ anti-obesity initiative.
Brendon’s work has been recognised at AWARD, D&AD, Cannes, The One Show, Clio, New York Festivals, the LIAAs and the Australian Writers’ Guild AWGIE Awards for screenwriting.

Linda Jukic is currently a NSW councillor for the Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA).
JIM INGRAM
Executive Creative Director, cummins&partners
Jim Ingram is joint Executive Creative Director at cummins&partners. To look at, Jim is entirely unremarkable, however something that is rather interesting about him is that Jim has worked his entire 14-year career in a creative team with Art Director Ben Couzens and together they’ve won awards at every major local and international show, including D&AD, The One Show, Clio and multiple Gold Lion wins at Cannes. They’ve judged multiple award shows within Australia and abroad, chaired AWARD School and sat on committees for AWARD and the MADC. Their most notable achievement is the creation of the Schweppes “Burst” television commercial, recognised in 2009 as the 2nd most awarded commercial in the world that year. Although personally, Jim still believes his achievement in the Dudley Primary School ‘fire awareness week’ poster competition in grade 5 is his best work. He came runner-up.
