Book now for the Night of Skulls: the 2013 PADC Awards – Friday, Nov. 1 at Fraser’s Kings Park
Some say advertising and design is a matter of life or death. But they’re both far more important than that.
Funny enough, the PADC Awards are scheduled for Friday, 1 November 2013 – the traditional Day of the Dead (well, in Mexico, at least).
The Day of the Dead can be traced to a pre-Columbian past – perhaps 3,000 years ago, where skulls were commonly kept as trophies and displayed during rituals to symbolize death and rebirth. In the current PADC era, skulls are still kept as trophies. But rather than symbolise death, they represent excellence. Win a gold skull and you’ll feel alive. Very alive. You and your colleagues may celebrate like there’s no tomorrow.
Miss out and your fate could be worse than death.
You may have to endure an entertaining evening at Frasers Convention Centre (Kings Park) observing, applauding, and perhaps, envying excellence. Depending on the fragility of your ego, that could be painful. To help you, an excellent meal served with equally excellent drinks, shall be served.
The next day, you may wake up (a) knowing what standard you must reach to win a coveted PADC skull. And (b) depending on what you consume (and how much), you may feel like death. However, this will pass. Eventually!
But first, you gotta book.

Hopefully the PADC will get a couple more people coming to this than to the Farcetival of Odears.
