MR.jpgThe Augusta Margaret River (AMRTA) and Geographe Bay Tourism Associations (GBTA) have appointed Block Branding to complete ‘The Margaret River Region’ brand development.

With past clients including the Fremantle Dockers, Telstra Perth Fashion Festival and the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority, Block was awarded the contract to undertake the brand strategy and creative execution following a competitive selection process.

This next and final stage of the branding process will see ‘The Margaret River Region’ brand brought to life, drawing on feedback from the Regional Marketing Group and the consumer research undertaken in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne last year.

Block is collaborating with Busselton-based graphic designer, Nic Bowen-Sant, known for his work with Sunset Events’ Southbound Festival and the Margaret River Regional Producer’s Association, to deliver the brand.

“We are so pleased to have Block on board, they are a highly respected agency with an excellent track record of delivering results,” said AMRTA CEO Pip Close, “It will be fantastic to see the partnership between Block and Nic Bowen-Sant – we wanted to draw upon local talent as well as the commercial smarts of Block.”

“This final stage in the branding process is the culmination of years of work by a whole range of people from the region to create a more cohesive and compelling story about our destination,” said GBTA CEO Sharna Kearney, “We know how important to get this right, for our members, for the community, for the future of tourism in The Margaret River Region.”

“Personally, I’m looking forward to working with Nic again on a project that promotes the place our families call home,” said Block’s Creative Director Mark Braddock, “There’s a wealth of creative talent in the South West which we are hoping to engage with throughout this process.”

“Being able to work on one of Australia’s great destination brands is a dream opportunity and a great way to start the year,” said Block’s General Manager, Angela Palandri, “To collaborate in the creation and promotion of a brand that represents the complexity, diversity and entrepreneurship of the region is the type of work we revel in and excel at.”

Work on the new brand will begin immediately for completion by the end of this financial year, and will include consultation with the Regional Marketing Group as well as the Board, members and staff of the tourism associations.

The brand will be officially launched alongside the formation of the Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association, which will take place on 1 July 2015.
