Bell Booth has created a new television campaign for Ashley & Martin. Created by Damon Pattinson and Dean Graham, the mock-sombre animated commercials take a light-hearted look at the emotional wrench of departing hair.
The campaign is running on TEN’s HD sports channel, ONE.

Cute ad!
Shit…but awesome.
Like me.
good to see something else than ‘before and after’ or hunks without shirts – quite amusing too
Congratulations to Damon and Dean from BBAM. Completely different creative approach for the hair re-growth industry. Refreshing to see and extremely clever…works for me.
Refreshing and not one of those irritating nasal newsreader style voiceovers anywhere to be found.
I would like to see the response numbers published at a later date.
Sensitive Illustrations.

not another bloody feel good ad from poland.
Anyone vain enough to care about their hair falling our will also be too shallow to appreciate the sensitivity of this approach. Maybe they should explore a “before” and “after” execution – preferably featuring men without shirts – accompanied by a nasal newsreader-style VO. This will appeal to the target audience more.
There is hope (For BBAM, and my hairline.)
I miss the man in the white coat. The white coat was genius.

Strong post.
It’s not me, it’s you.

Do any ads work?
That music is awesome.
I’m feeling all sad now. ~:(
These are way better than anything that ever won Tropfest! @:)
I love them. Good work guys.
If they’d lost half of the puns then wouldve been a whole lot better-but still v nice for the category
I think it was built around the puns maybe?
By definition, the ad does not contain any puns. This is a pun:
” Why did you write it like that?”
” For the pun of it.”
PUN:
A humorous substitution of words that are alike in sound but different in meaning (see double-entendre), as in this passage from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, by Lewis Carroll:
“And how many hours a day did you do lessons?” said Alice, in a hurry to change the subject.
“Ten hours the first day,” said the Mock Turtle, “nine the next, and so on.”
“What a curious plan!” exclaimed Alice.
“That’s the reason they’re called lessons,” the Gryphon remarked: “because they lessen from day to day.”
Correct, they are not puns in the true sense of the word. Here’s an award winning pun:
“Out of the flying plane, into the foyer.”
British Airways.
Isn’t talking hair a visual pun in the first place?
As for the ‘does it work?’ comment; the ad will work, it communicates simply with humorous empathy, but does the treatment work? Can you really stop the march of time? Isn’t it a genetic formality?
It’s a sad day in the creative department when the best defense of your work is arguing the definition of a pun.
Try again.
That wasn’t an argument, it was a statement of fact: there are no puns. I welcome all criticism, but we can hardly take out puns when there are none. And surely concise ‘definition’ is a conerstone of copy? If you mean that some of the written dialogue could be reduced, that is a valid point. The illustrations and music carry it wonderfully and editing the dialogue would indeed add to the sparseness. Damo and I are looking at this before final production of the other three ads in the series. But hey, why the long face? You sound a little hostile (so it’s probably the wrong time to point out the spelling of ‘defence’). Try and concentrate on the work and not the personality. It’s what experienced advertising people do. If you do cross that line, then the only thing sad here is the coward behind the cloak of anonymity. My name is Dean Graham, what’s yours?
joisus….
When did it get so serious?
It’s just about a little humour and to portray the brand as a little more empathetic to the situation.
Yes it won’t sell any Minoxidil, but that’s the point.
It is a sad way of creating deplorement when the worst offense to good work is the defilement of a pan.
Try (reading) again.
Out of the frying pun.
I’ll take a punt that sad coward from half past six has never read this or this.
I really do wish ignorant use of english language was punishable.
: )
Lets be honest, the creative approach was different indeed….fantastic – far from it. In this market, such an ad holds novelty value for only so long. I assume whoever manages this account went for promoting their own personal agenda before the clients. Still – good on BBAM for trying.
My name is Andrew Tinning and I like it.
i’m bored :/
Wake me up when something clever appears on this site…
I saw the white coat guy on tele last night. when’s this going to air?
Not bad ads.
Though it’s a shame they are still running the white coat campaign on TV and a totally different campaign online.
Why not integrate the idea through all communication?
It is on TV.
