Barrie Quick (pictured) has returned to Perth in a temporary assignment at Macquarie Media station 6PR, which has been without a local lead manager since Martin Boylen was made redundant in February.

Besidesengaging with key stakeholders and raising the station’s profile, MacquarieMedia has appointed Quick to investigate how to move the 6PR business forward, including delivering its content across platforms.

He will look at the station’s on-air line-up and programming, as well as making its sales structure more efiicient. However, Quick told Campaign Brief they would maintain the current sales arrangement with 96fm and continue to work cohesively with their sales team.

Quick has an extensive background in radio. He commenced his career at 6IX and spent ten years as Sales Director and General Manager at Triple M Perth (now 96fm) before moving to Melbourne in 1998. More recently, he was CEO of ASX listed Pacific Star Network, owner of Melbourne’s 116SEN station as well as other media interests. He left Pacific Star at the end of last year to start digital marketing agency LeapFrogger.

Quick said while there is no set time limit to his role, he expected to be here for 3 – 4 months, during which time he would also be involved in recruiting a permanent senior manager to lead the station. He said it was unlikely he would relocate permanently given his family base and business interests in Melbourne.

The structural review comes as Macquarie is about to commence a complete refurbishment of the station’s studio and offices in East Perth, at a cost of some $3 million.
