Australia scores 24 more Pencils on final day of D&AD judging in London including Pencil for The Brand’s St John Ambulance ‘Break the Barrier’

Australia has scored a further 24 Pencils, including one for Perth, on the final day of D&AD judging in London, bringing the Aussie total to 39 Pencils. The Brand’s St John Ambulance ‘Break the Barrier’ spot has added to its worldwide acclaim with a Pencil at the World’s toughest awards show.
848 Pencils have been awarded in total, but winners will have to wait until the awards ceremony in London on 21st May to find out which colour Pencil (Wood, Graphite, Yellow, White or Black) they’ve won.
Over 22,000 pieces of work from 85 countries were judged by 197 of the world’s top creatives this week. Black Pencil judging is taking place today and any winners will be announced on 21st May.
M&C Saatchi, Sydney won four Pencils, all for Optus ‘Clever Buoy’ – in Digital Design, Digital Marketing, Outdoor, Product Design, while Whybin\TBWA, Melbourne scored three – all for ANZ GAYTMs – in Branding, Digital Marketing and Outdoor; as did DDB Melbourne – two for PZ Cussons ‘Radiant Return’ – in Digital Marketing and Direct and one for RSL ‘Minute of Silence’ in Direct.
Clemenger BBDO, Sydney scored two Pencils – for Foxtel ‘Zombie Followers’ in Digital Marketing, and for Hungry Jack’s ‘The Poster that Eats Birds’ in Outdoor; as did Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney – both for OPSM ‘Penny the Pirate’ in Direct.
One Pencil apiece was awarded to VML Australia, Sydney for Rip Curl ‘Search GPS’ in Digital Design; The Brand Agency, Perth for St John Ambulance ‘Break the Barrier’ in Film Advertising; Exit Films for Samsung Electronics ‘Every Day is Day One’ in Film Advertising Crafts; Finch for NZTA ‘Mistakes’ in Film Advertising Crafts; JWT Sydney for NSW Cancer Council ‘I Touch Myself Project’; GPY&R Melbourne for The Lost Dogs Home ‘The Human Walking Program’ in Outdoor; Container Australia for Kevin Murphy Hair Care in Packaging Design; GPY&R Brisbane for SP Brewery ‘Mozzie Box’ in Packaging Design; Curious for Air New Zealand ‘The Most Epic Safety Video Ever’ in Branded Content; and Interbrand for Integrated Research in Branding.

Break the Barrier didn’t have a Moog in the soundtrack. The Moog is synonymous with a sense of underlying unease. With a Moog, it would have definitely won more.
This would have been an amazing experiential extension
