APN Outdoor & Youngbloods Sweat & Tears’ 2018 Sports Carnival gets record turnout

Over 100 keen sports carnival goers raced to Menzies Park last Thursday, to battle it out to be the winning faction – the largest turn out for the Youngbloods annual sports event.
The ten coloured factions competed in a series of blast-from-the-past challenges, including: Tunnel Ball, Sack Race, 3-Legged Race, Leader Ball, Egg & Spoon Race, Batten Relay and Tug-of-War. Teams quickly realised they were perhaps in over their heads and that the sack race was in fact a lot easier when they were nine!
But nevertheless, teams pushed on – darting around cones balancing eggs on spoons, and running a relay with Barbie doll battens, nudging opponents out the way. This all building up to the final Tug-of-War knock out round. As people put their token anchors at the back of the rope, it was a fight of strength and teamwork to haul their team over the finishing line.
Red faction – Seven West Media & Nine muscled everyone out the way to take home the WIN. They went home with the coveted Youngbloods sports trophy, commemorative 1st ribbons (would it even be a sports carnival without them?), a $500 Left Bank voucher and boasting rights – give me an R…give me an E….give me a D…what does that spell? WINNERS.
Right from our winning Red faction, to our participation sticker recipients, the leader board for the day was:
1st – Seven West Media & Nine (Red)
2nd – OKMG (Turquoise)
3rd – Marketforce/OMD (Black/White)
4th – Carat (Yellow)
5th – Initiative (Blue)
6th – 303 MullenLowe (Pink)
7th – JWT tied (Green)
7th – Meerkats tied (Purple)
8th – Southern Cross Austereo (Lime Green)
9th – Trilogy (Orange)
And the real winner of the day: an awesome event sponsor APN. This event would not have been possible without their continued support. Plus, a huge thanks to Momentum Lifestyles who coordinated all the games, scored and umpired.
