Animated tvc for CBH tugs the heart-strings
This harvest season marks 80 years of Cooperative Bulk Handling buying, transporting and selling WA growers’ grain. CBH has been facing increased competition in recent years, so the company wanted to create a commercial that would celebrate their achievements and build the emotional connection they have with the farming community.
Marketing agency, Rubis, enlisted the creative team of Malcolm MacLean and Dave Elliott to create the TV commercial, which tells the story of CBH’s history through the eyes of a small girl. The modern twist to the tale is that the girl intends to take over the farm.
The team collaborated with Paul Siciliano of Staccato Animation to bring the idea to life. The goal was to make the commercial look like traditional stop-motion photography, even though it was actually created with 3D computer animation. It was a real labour of love for Paul, with the commercial being voiced by his 7 year old daughter, Kahlia.
Sam Francke and Brianna Peake from CBH were delighted with the commercial and said “everyone here has fallen in love with that little girl”.

Beautiful work Paul
Right from the start I liked it.
Outstanding animation from an outstanding local talent. And great work all round.
Cheers Andrew, it was a lot of fun.
Nobody said it was easy
Nice work Paul.
Willie, I think you are too subtle, but also kinda nice for not just saying DONE and providing a link. So I won’t either…
If you look Nelson. I think Yeah was first with the subtle comment. I think Willie was paying tribute to Yeahs comment.
Very similar to the Chipotle ‘back to the start ad’ but still effective
Very cool stuff Paul.. Well done.
