Christmas is a time of rebirth, a time to celebrate and be amongst friends.
For all these reasons the Perth Advertising & Design Club (PADC) has decided to celebrate the creative achievements of 2008 on 12 December in the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
This year has been one of redefining and rebuilding for the PADC: we are becoming a more representative and inclusive body to our industry. This year, in a PADC first, we have involved planners on our judging panel and plan to introduce the inaugural “Creative Champion” of the Year.
There has been some terrific work produced in 2008 and it is important for all of us to recognise and applaud the extraordinary effort and passion.
Finally, we don’t see much of each other during the year, so what better time to sit together, have a beer and reflect on making it through another year in “ad land”.
Join us for the industry’s annual Awards night:
Date: Friday 12 December 2008
Venue: The Hyatt Regency Hotel Ballroom
Time: 6:30 pm Pre Dinner Drinks
Dress: Black & Stylish
To pre-book tables contact the Club Manager by email on admin@padc.com.au.

December 12th???? Judging was ages ago and wouldn’t it be better away from the Christmas party season.
It’s a disgrace to tarnish the birth of our lord with the effete ramblings of advertising zombies. Remember how our lord threw the tinkers from the temple, beware PADC.
How much Jeff?
Ikea and ORS to raffle the golds and the fellowship. whatdoyareckon?
Ikea sliding wardrobe for the west trip. It would be well a deserved win.
Pack your bags for Cannes Rich.
4:40. Der, I think it has to have appeared in The West.
Unpack your bags Rich. False alarm.
Ah, but they could still take out the Mandurah Mail Scholarship and win a return bus fare to Bunbury. It would be a deserved win.
Pack your bong Rich.
The ORS Restraints campaign only ran in the country too so neither will win the fellowship.
sympathy.

Where does it say it has to run in the City to win the fellowship? If it’s in the west it must count, surely? What does Les think?
Hope it’s not to little to late…. would like to see ALL categories judged and acknowledged this year….
Bring it on baby!
“Dress: Black & Stylish”
Isn’t that a little un-PC in these sensitive times?
How much are the tickets Jeff??????????????
Let’s see what happens on the night first 11.40AM
Ors ran in the country edition because it was part of a rural campaign. There is nothing in the terms and conditions of the fellowship that says it has to have run in the main circulation. I’d be interested to hear from the West on this. Any way at the end of the day, it comes down to what the judges thought on the day. Let the best ad win on the night.
my bet’s on ORS. Nothing I’ve seen in perth touches it this year.
As 11:24am says, let’s just wait and see what wins…. however as the person who managed the PADC judging of The West Fellowship from 1989 to 2004 here is a bit of history.
To qualify for the Fellowship the ad has to run in the main edition (ie Metro) of The West Australian. That has ALWAYS been the qualification, and there has been no change to this as far as we have heard. In its original format The Fellowship was awarded to a single person involved in a particular craft that caught the Chairman of Judge’s eye (eg Ric Cairns winning for the writing of the headline in a Perrini shoes ad). This has evolved into it’s current format where the creative team that created the ad are awarded. Each year, immediately following the judging of the winner, I would ring The West’s representative on the committee (Wade Halvorson, Peter Armstrong, Les Corner) who would then check that the ad had legitimately run in The West. Only once was there a problem and another winner was quickly chosen by the chairman of judges.
The Fellowship was established in 1989 by The West’s MD of the time John Reynolds and marketing manager, Wade Halvorson. Their noble objective was to foster improved standards in press advertising and improve the standard of press advertising within The West Australian. It was never about qualifying an ad for an award show deadline.
The Fellowship has a long and distinguished history so I’m certain the PADC committee would never let their most prestigious award be undermined by a winner that didn’t fit in with the spirit of the award.
It’s going to be a great night regardless. Good luck to everyone.
can I cancel my bet?
