ADMA WA Branch dials up Telethon Trust’s Steve Mummery for first breakfast of 2014

ADMA’s West Australia Branch is dialling up Steve Mummery, General Manager of Channel 7’s popular Telethon Trust, for its first breakfast event in 2014.

The event takes place Wednesday, 30 April at Fraser’s Restaurant, Fraser Avenue, West Perth, 7.30am-9.00am.

“Customer engagement will be the overall theme of the ADMA WA Branch’s annual Early Bird Breakfast series this year. It’s fitting to start the series with Steve Mummery, who has had marvellous success in engaging West Australians with Telethon,” said Jodie Sangster, ADMA CEO.

The Channel 7 Telethon Trust is a registered charitable trust that raises funds to improve the lives of children and young people throughout Western Australia. Steve runs a small team of people who are dedicated to financially supporting the medical and social welfare of children and young people, and to funding research into children’s diseases.

The highlight of their work is the annual 26-hour marathon broadcast that sees artists and personalities from all over Australia and the world fly into Perth for a weekend to raise money for the trust.

Mummery will discuss his success in connecting the West Australian public with Telethon and how it has evolved in his time at the helm. In 2013, Telethon raised $20.7 million.

“We’ve taken Telethon on a ‘journey of reinvention’ over the last four years — making it a more contemporary brand that in turn has made it more attractive to the corporate world.  So, as kids grow up with us and become the leaders of tomorrow, they will remember how important Telethon was to them as a child,” said Mummery.

Prior to taking on the GM role at Telethon, Mummery was the Content Director for Austereo’s Mix 94.5, where he headed up the programming and promotion team at what became Australia’s most successful radio station. During his time at the station, he established a number of fundraising activities to raise funds for Telethon and several other charities.
