AC/GC rock the house down at the Bullshit Band Night – See photos from the night here
Six very amateur Bands took to the stage at the second annual Bullshit Band night:
AC/GC from Gatecrasher…
Dr.Smith from Double G…
Shouldbe Band from 303…
Virility from Meerkats…
Merry Death and the Agnostic Bishops from Brand Agency and
Five Mils Bleed from Marketforce…
The bands battled it out at the Irish Club in Subi for the right to be crowned Bullshit Band of the Year. It was a tight, surprisingly quality contest in front of 270 feral groupies, that ended in a ‘Rock Off’ between the 2008 champions 303 and new, upstart rockers, AC/GC from Gatecrasher.
Gatecrasher prevailed in a tight scoring contest, with judges Wayne Vinten from Vinten Browning, John Ilian from The Sharper Pencil and Paul Vilkas from Kosmic Sound having to draw on every ounce of their extremely limited musical appreciation to decide the winner.
As always, shouts of ‘rigged’, ‘why didn’t we win?’, ‘we were better than them’ and ‘I’m shifting agencies to be in their band’ echoed the venue. In its second year, after a 15 year hiatus, the event, thanks to the organisation of Ross ‘Cracka’ Tinney, has cemented itself as a premier event on the National Advertising Calendar.

Jesus, Kurt, I’m sorry I missed that particular show… That is one lucky guitar.
Double G were the clear winners…what were the judges thinking. Brand Agency take the cake for the worst act…
Perhaps it’s time for another 15 year hiatus?! LOL
1. It would be remiss of the industry – bullshit ‘n all – not to sincerely applaud and thank Ross Tinney in reinstating the infamous event – and for organising the Bullshit Band Night last week. I, for one, say ‘Goodonya, mate!’
2. What does the industry think about a Bullshit Comedy Night?
Roughly the same format as the Bullshit Band Night – IE: Agency homegrown amateur talent only, 2 minute stand-up gig per ‘comedian,’ Bullshit judges, maybe at the Irish Club again (seems ideal)?
John Ilian.
It’s about knowing your crowd and playing accordingly. Sure, Double G were consummate pro’s, but GC nailed the rock anthems and the closet bogans were thunderstruck by their awesomeness.
Well done guys, congrats to GC for the win and thanks to everyone who came along and supported. All the bands stepped it up a notch from last year and did a terrific job. Us in 303 Should be banned had an absolute blast!
whose is the RockSteamy in the pale blue shirt?
Thanks for organising the event Ross, also thanks to Craig for bringing extra gear.
I personally think all the bands were ROCK ‘N in there own way it was a real blast.
Well done GC for taking it out. We really enjoyed being a part of the event even thou we didnt even get a score? still not sure why. Anyway well done to all the other bands really enjoyed it.
Cheers
Paul from Double G
Loved every minute, even being stuck for 15 of them in a booze bus on Railway Road! Invisible drummers, glittering singers, naked man-chests and a crowd that knew how to scream to cheer the bands on. What a freakin’ excellent night. Well done Ross!
Meerkats should’ve called their act ‘MANFRED MANBOOBS’
