ABC Circulation figures show increased circulation year-on-year for The Weekend West
The latest ABC circulation figures show The Weekend West was the only metropolitan weekend paper in Australia to increase circulation year-on-year. The Weekend West increased circulation by 1.34%, from 302,412 to 306,479.
ABC circulation audit, Morgan Readership Survey and Nielsen Online Market Intelligence figures show:
- The West Australian is WA’s highest selling, most read print medium;
- West Weekend magazine is WA’s best read magazine, joining Seven Days as WA’s #1 and #2 magazines;
- and thewest.com.au is the no.1 WA online news site.
The West Australian reaches an average weekday readership of 493,000 per day. The Weekend West reaches 696,000 readers dominating the local market with a penetration of 35.2%. Combined, The West Australian, The Weekend West and thewest.com.au deliver a total weekly audience (net) of 1.3 million people.
The quality of The West Australian and The Weekend West editorial and coverage was recognised when Steve Pennells was awarded with Australian journalism’s most prestigious award, the Gold Walkley for 2012. Pennells also won the Walkley for Best Scoop of the Year for his reports on the legal battle over the estate of late mining magnate Lang Hancock. He also won the Walkley Award for Social Equity Journalism for his feature article on the drowning victims of an asylum seeker tragedy.
