iiNet account set to return to Western Australia with Meerkats reappointed to the account
In a major coup for Meerkats, Campaign Brief hears they have been reappointed to the huge iiNet national account.
The appointment is not officially confirmed, but it is very likely the brand and strategic work currently handled by Belgiovane Williams Mackay Sydney will be returning to Meerkats.
Meerkats resigned the business in September last year following a change of marketing direction that saw Belgiovane Williams Mackay appointed to the roster for the digital and B2B work for iiNet. The subsequent agency review saw BWM gain the bulk of the iiNet brand work and saw Marketforce appointed to customer retention and relationship marketing. Marketforce’s role is expected to continue.
Meerkat’s started working on some project work for iiNet a few months ago following the departure of iiNet’s chief marketing officer, Wendy Walker.
An official statement from iiNet is expected later today.

WOW. Great news.
Well done Meerkats.
Back to where it belongs IMO – great news!
That’s the best news the local production industry has had for ages! With Tourism WA, Bankwest and RAC now based in Sydney, it’s great to finally get one back! 🙂
RAC is serviced out of JWT in Perth (with a staff of about a dozen)
RAC media is booked through ikon Perth.
Bankwest media is booked through ikon Perth.
Tourism media is through Mitchells in Perth.
Fantastically motivating for us West Aussies ad people
! Congrats Meerkats and iinet!
woohoo
Makes the client look silly. But good news nevertheless.
Good news. So will they hire back the staff they retrenched? Struggling creatives would probably appreciate it…
hopefully this time around they can concentrate more on defining iiNet’s brand instead of just coming up with cute ad ideas 🙂

I was talking about local production, as in recording radio and TV commercials, not media buying. None of the above use local suppliers anymore!
No one gives a rats about media buying, we’re talking about real production here!
I think Where have you been industry spokesperson? missed the point. They were not talking about media buying but local production.
Great result Meerkats. A piece of news that really made me smile!
Great Work Kats!!!! A Win for Perth but more importantly a win for good creative ideas proving its worth over the big players who just throw their weight around. Between Marketforce and Meerkats I cant wait to see the next chapter.
