21 teams had one hour to work on a brief from Rottofest – the comedy, film and music festival held on Rottnest Island every year.

The 303Lowe team of Mike Sequeira, Melissa Radman, Malcolm MacLean, Helen King and Ross Dungey (LtoR above) came up with a relatively simple visual idea of a man laying on the beach in the foreground with the Rottnest lighthouse ‘strategically placed’ in the background under the headline “Rottnest’s most exciting weekend”.

Said MacLean: “Our team realised that while there are all kinds of technologies available for Adshel sites today, a winning idea for a comedy festival at Rottnest needed to be an attention-grabbing visual that said ‘Rottnest’ and ‘funny’ in one shot.  And what’s funnier than a giant phallus at Pinky’s beach?”

Chairman of Judges, Vaughan Sutherland, said the winning concept was one of the few that managed to combine the irreverence of the event with the unique Rottnest location.

The team has won a trip for 2 to the New York Festivals International Advertising Awards. The poster will feature in a campaign of 260 Adshel panels, worth over $200,000, for Rottofest 2012.

The night was hosted by Melbourne comedian Dave Thornton. Adshel’s Peter Charlton, Barry Eggleton and Katie McAllister travelled from Sydney for the event, which was an outstanding success.
