303Lowe takes Princely Treasures to the city

Commuters in Perth’s CBD can start their bus journey in royal style, with the installation of a very special bus shelter on the corner of King Street and St Georges Terrace.

The entirely wrapped Adshel, created by 303LOWE, is an initiative of the Art Gallery of Western Australia, and is designed to give commuters – and passers-by – a glimpse into the luxuries of a bygone era.

Styled as a courtly drawing room from 300 years ago, with selected artworks, artifacts, luscious wrapped seat, cushions, golden frames and draped curtains – the Adshel takes on the theme from the Gallery’s stunning Princely Treasures exhibition.

Exclusive to Perth and drawn from the magnificent collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Princely Treasures showcases objects and artifacts once owned by the rulers of Europe, the powerful and the elite. The collection includes impressive examples of their sculptures and paintings, as well as jewellery, tapestry, furniture, fashion, religious artifacts and weaponry.

The exhibition is on display at the Art Gallery of WA until January 9, 2012.
