303Lowe picks up rare Yellow Pencil for IKEA ‘Rent’ at D&AD, the world’s toughest award show

303Lowe’s ‘Rent’ campaign for IKEA has won a rare Yellow Pencil at D&AD in the Direct Integrated Campaigns category.
‘Rent’ was created by 303 Lowe Sydney team Darren Borino and Stu Turner but Perth creatives Mike Sequeira, Dav Tabeshfar and Richard Berney also contributed to the campaign.
Pictured left is JWT Melbourne “WiFiction” team Jim Ritchie and Deborah Frenkel, with IKEA “Rent” copywriter Dav Tabeshfar (currently on contract at JWT Melbourne.)
303Lowe’s Sydney ECD Simon Langley (bottom left) has been in London judging the Outdoor category and was able to pick up the award.
It was one of only three yellow pencils awarded to Australia, with JWT Melbourne picking up the other two for its Melbourne Writers Festival ‘Wi-FiCTION’ campaign.
There were a total of 66 Yellow Pencils awarded to the best of the world’s design, advertising and communications work at the 2012 D&AD Awards, the organisation’s fiftieth anniversary.
Significant winners were JWT Shanghai, which scooped three Yellow Pencils for its Samsonite Suitcase work in Press and Outdoor, LOWE/SSP3 for the Colombian Ministry of Defence, Dentsu Tokyo for Honda Motor’s “internavi”, Ogilvy Johannesburg for Multichoice/M-Net’s “MK is” campaign and Be Bravo for its work with Leica.

Huge congrats to Disco Stu and the Burrito. Weird accents but champions!!
Rich, i remember a couple of years back you told me you were proud to have had one of your commercials featured in the D&AD book for Best Use of Music. I can’t imagine how you’re feeling now. Ha ha.
Big congrats to a very talented creative bunch – Rich, Dav and Mikey (Don’t know the other guys).
