303 SUPPORTS CEREBRAL PALSY WEEK
303 has thrown their weight behind The Centre for Cerebral Palsy to celebrate Cerebral Palsy Awareness Week, taking place now through 9 August 2008. Focussing on this year’s theme of ‘Communication’, the team at 303 has donated their collective creative talents to develop an innovative campaign including a TVC and poster. Following in the footsteps of last year, the campaign champion is 10 year-old Sarah, who has cerebral palsy affecting her movement and speech.
Nick Cleaver, Chief Executive Officer of the 303 Group, said, “As the theme for this year’s campaign is communication, we wanted to articulate how children like Sarah use facial expressions to communicate. For example, when Sarah wants to say ‘yes’, she raises her eyes. To say ‘no’ she blinks slowly.”
303 created a poster which suggests ‘Raise your eyes if you want to help 10 year old Sarah from North Perth. Close them if you don’t.’
Judy Hogben, Chief Executive Officer at the Centre for Cerebral Palsy in WA, said, “Cerebral Palsy Awareness Week aims to create greater awareness of the difficulties faced by children, adults and families living with cerebral palsy through community and fundraising activities. Many people know very little about cerebral palsy, which is a permanent physical condition that affects movement. In Australia, it is estimated that a child is born with cerebral palsy every 18 hours. There is no pre-birth test for Cerebral Palsy and there is no known cure. We are extremely grateful for the incredible support we have received from 303 over the past few years.”
There are more than 15 million people worldwide who have Cerebral Palsy, including 20,000 people in Australia, 2,000 of which live in Western Australia. This year’s campaign includes TV, radio, press and various pieces of collateral including the poster and program.

Good to see people getting behind a worthy cause. I hope that it improves awareness!
I admire 303 for being involved in this cause. And they are to be commended for giving up their time. However the end result is a commercial that is a bit of a let down. Cerebral Palsy has touched my circle of friends but this ad doesn’t involve me nearly as much as it should. The best thing they could have done is approach Scope in the Victoria to use their commercial from last year. I only saw the ad once but it has stayed with me.
I don’t know the agency but I found it on YouTube – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhKMouRaWcY&eurl
I would like everyone to stand up and yell out ‘Jane Natalizio, you are a legend’ You go girl
That’s a powerful ad 5.55. The Radiohead soundtrack would have cost a fortune though.
Yes, we should all take on more good causes like this.
10.03 Radiohead donated the use of the song. Leo Burnetts Sydney created the ad and Exit was the production company. It was all done for free. Everyone donated their time and resources. I’m sure 303 would have been able to use the commercial and were aware of it but if you read the story above it appears the brief for this project is different. But as you say, a powerful ad.
um, if i were to raise my eyes i wouldn’t be able to read the rest of the ad so i wouldn’t know how to help them.
How do you raise your eyes anyway?
Sorry, but I rolled mine.
My heart broke when I first saw this ad. So powerful. I love it. Congratulations 303, great work – I wish you were our agency. Also, fantastic to see you support this – you should be very proud.
Sorry 6.55 are you referring to the “raise your eyes” commercial or the really good one – the Scope one that 5.55 highlighted?
I am not questioning your comment but I am just interested to clarify the object of your praise.
6.55 here. I was referring to ‘raise your eyes’. But I also loved the Scope ad too.
Unlike 5.55 Cerebral Palsy has not touched my circle of friends so as an awareness raiser this ad really worked. I didn’t need to be involved.
