303 Lowe created a little April Fool’s Day prank for IKEA which ran yesterday in Perth and Adelaide newspapers.
It was a product recall notice for left-handed allen keys. Both stores featured posters and a swap box where customers could drop the left-handed keys in one side and take a right-handed one out of the other side (it’s the same box).
The ad has been picked up by a blog site and has already had 680,000 views. It was also mentioned on Nova in Perth this morning.
Client: IKEA Nigel Richardson and Natalie Chalmers
Creative: Malcolm MacLean and Ross Dungey
Business management: Kate Somerford

Don’t think this fooled anyone, wasted opportunity.
Great topical ad-I heard them talking about it on the radio this morning.
Another trophy for the cabinet, well done!
Very clever. You knows its a joke, but your not sure.
IKEA finger not good
Nice work lads. A real shame April 1 fell on a Sunday – if this runs in the West you’ve won yourself a Fellowship for sure!
Nice work! You gave me a laugh. Which is what I thought April Fools Day is all about.
Lighten up ‘The Who’, you miserable bastard.
lighten up ‘Mick Colliss’ you snappy bastard.
Good call Mick about The Who, does he talk the talk but not walk the walk…
I probably would have fallen for it but I’m left handed and slightly gullible.
Right. That’s it ‘Aleisha Zappia’. Pack up your stuff and get out.
