300,000 ‘Likes’ on Facebook for PerthNow
PerthNow has reached up a significant milestone, notching up 300,000 likes on Facebook.
News Corp Australia’s WA Sales Director, Jay Morris, said the result showed that people were engaging with the PerthNow brand and actively looking at its news content.
“Our Facebook posts have an active reach of over 1.5 million people. We don’t just reach a large audience – we have an attentive one. With an engagement rate of almost 100%, users are actively liking, commenting and sharing our news content. Add on our additional reach via Twitter with 77,173 followers and that’s a massive social reach of more than The West and WA Today combined.”
Morris said social networks were an increasingly important tool for PerthNow.
“Social networks help us engage with our audience and drive traffic to PerthNow. They account for more than 40% of PerthNow referrals on mobile devices and more than 30% across all devices.”

How many of hose ‘Likes’ are from WA? How many from Australia? Any audience beyond that has no value for any local advertiser.
Congrats to the Perth Now team. 4-years ago the page was infrequently updated with no engagement – thanks to the work of former employees like Lisa, Scott, Erienne and David the page was energized and has grown massively since.
