RebeccaMaddern_TheAFLFootyShow_BLOG.jpgWith just over four weeks to go, the 2017 Oasis Ball & Campaign Brief Awards is 95% sold. The event is down to its last few tables so be quick if you want to be at the industry’s biggest night of the year on Friday, April 7 (Book here).

Rebecca Maddern (pictured) has been announced as co-host of this year’s Ball, which will be another spectacular night, kicking off at 6.30pm and going through to 2.00am.

Maddern will join Nine Perth’s Tim McMillan, who returns to the stage for a second time having done a great job co-hosting with Karl Stefanovic last year.

Maddern made headlines when she became The Footy Show’s first female co-host in 2016, and quickly gained respect for the way she handled herself in the notoriously blokey environment. Off-screen, Maddern is an accomplished MC and was in Perth earlier this year as part of the team that presented Nine’s upfronts for 2017.

Now in its twenty-second year, the Oasis Ball is all about celebrating the industry and raising money for The Salvation Army’s Crossroads West unit.  Oasis has donated close to $2 million to the charity since the first Ball was held in 1996, and the event now fully supports some of Crossroads West’s programs.

Chair of the Oasis Organising Committee, Marketforce’s Brendon Lewis, said the Ball is a hugely important event that makes a real difference to young people’s lives.

“With the 2017 Oasis Ball only weeks away, it’s a good time to reflect on the importance of the event as a way for the local advertising, media and communication industry to come together as one and give to such a great cause, the Salvation Army’s Crossroads West unit. Crossroads West provides a safe, stable environment for young people whose families have been disrupted by domestic violence, alcohol abuse and drug addiction.”

“As new Chair of the committee, I have now seen first-hand the positive impact the money we raise has on young, vulnerable lives. Sure, it’s a great big party to celebrate the industry and the work, but don’t forget the end game.”

Once again, Perth’s major media have rallied to the cause and provided some outstanding packages and items for the Major Auction, which is the principal fundraising activity at the event.

As well, the Silent Auction will feature a range of smaller items, plus there are two Economy tickets flying Qatar Airways to any of their destinations and two $1000 vouchers for Crown to win in the Raffle. Details of all the items will be posted soon on the Oasis Ball website and here.

Crown Towers_Exterior_BLOG.jpgThe night will also feature the annual Campaign Brief Awards. Sixteen awards will be presented – nine exclusive creative awards plus seven industry awards: Supernova of the Year; Media Organisation of the Year; Media Agency of the Year; Challenger Agency of the Year; Ad Person of the Year; Advertiser of the Year; and Agency of the Year. It’s a wide-open field this year and there are sure to be some surprises.

This year’s Ball will be held on Friday, April 7 in the Crown Towers Ballroom, located within the fabulous new Crown Towers Hotel.

Anddon’t forget, there’s a special rate available on accommodation at the Crown Towers for Ball-goers, a great chance to sample Perth’s newest luxury resort hotel at a never-to-be-repeated price.
