2010 Austereo Radio Writers Award underway

Hot on the heels of Paul Coghlan’s win in the 2009 competition, the new year’s Mix 94.5 and 92.9  $20,000 Radio Writers Award is off and running.

A new judging system has been implemented for the monthly rounds in the 2010 competition.

With an expanding number of entries and shrinking number of creativesto judge, it has become too difficult to find judges from 3 agenciesthat don’t have contenders in each monthly round.

The new system uses 5 judges, understanding that there will probably be tracks from each judge’s agency in the mix.

A judge will ‘Abstain’ from tracks by their own agency. The other’non-conflict of interest’ tracks are still scored out of 100 but only the top 3scores will be counted to decide the 2 finalists from each month.

The ‘Abstains’ and/or lowest score/s for each track will not count, ensuring the most highly regarded work will still go through to thefinal round and be in contention to win the $20,000 prize.

The first two months contenders are out for judging now:
