2009 News Limited AWARD School Graduates
The 2009 News Limited AWARD School graduation was held last night at The Vic Hotel in Subiaco. A large crowd of Perth creatives turned up, thanks largely to a terrific online invite developed by the 12 graduating students and the lure of free beer.
It was an incredibly tight race for the top three spots. How tight? Well, there was a tie for third place and just one point separating each of the third, second and first positions.
Top student honours went to Tim Newton. Second place went to Danielle Glenister, while Timothy Sedden and Angela Nathan tied for third place.
Unfortunately Newton couldn’t attend as he was trekking in Brazil, but he was phoned of his win and sounded pretty chuffed. He will go on to compete in the national competition, with a chance to win a trip to the Caxton Awards.
Special thanks to Jennifer Dunne from News Limited who announced the winners, WA Campaign Brief for providing the prizes and to Adam Barker, Lindsay Medalia and Brett Wheeler for judging the students’ books. And a huge vote of thanks to this year’s AWARD School coordinators, Murray Laird (Marketforce) and Dav Tabeshfar (303).
Some samples of the students’ work will appear here shortly. Meanwhile, enjoy some photos from the evening, snapped by Andrew Chu (onya Chuey).

how tight?
Congrats on a great night….albeit short…and surprising winner line-up too… Any comments?
They got it right. Three good and fair judges.
Surprising winners line up? I looked at the books and thought the judges were pretty bang on-could have gone either way between 1st and second, I believe there was only a point in it.
Why surprising?
Great shots Chewy
A lot of mixed reviews on the results… I also picked a slightly different line up…
welcome to the game!
5 top well presented books, could have gone either way in my opinion, great stuff!
