Survey2_2016_BLOG-1.jpgNova 93.7 has closed the gap on Mix 94.5 to just 0.1% P10+ in the second GfK Metro Radio Survey for 2016.

Mix 94.5 recorded 13.8% share P10+ ahead of Nova by the narrowest of margins on 13.7% share.

Nova’s result is helped by its monster share of 10-17s at 31.0% but the station is also in high double-figures in 18-24s (19.6%), 25-39s (20.3% – #1 commercial) and 40-54s (16.8%).

Mix 94.5 is still #1 in its key 40-54 demographic but a drop of -2.6% to 19.4% will be of some concern. Offsetting that was a rise of +2.8% to 17.8% in P55-64.

Hit92.9 is the #3 commercial station on 10.3% after a slight drop of -0.6% and is the #1 commercial station P18-24 with a 20.1% share.

96FM may well have turned the corner, recording rises in P25-39 (+1.1 to 8.0%), P40-54 (+1.4 to 14.6) and P55-64 (+1.2 to 8.7%). Those numbers are still a long way from where the station wants to be but at least the downward trend from last year has been arrested.

6PR lost 0.6% overall to a 7.6% P10+ share. It also lost ground in its core demos, – 3.5% to 10.6% in P55-64, and -0.6% to 16.9% in P65+.

It was also a disappointing survey for 6IX. The station lost share in all demos bar P25-39 (which remained flat on 1.2%).

Nova 93.7’s Nathan, Nat & Shaun were the #1 commercial Breakfast, up 1.1% to 14.4%. They are 2.4% ahead of Mix 94.5’s new Clairsy, Matt & Kymba, which slipped to 12.0%. Nova’s was the only commercial Breakfast to record a rise.

Nova and Mix 94.5 are neck-and-neck for audience share across the week. Both are on 13.9% share Mon-Fri 5.30am – midnight.

Nova maintained its huge Cumulative Audience share, albeit with a slight drop to 570,000 People 10+, with Mix 94.5 on 534,000.

The stations are also tied for the P10+ Average Audience lead, with both on 31,000. They are also tied on 34,000 for Average Audience Mon-Fri 5.30am-12midnight.

The stage is set for a hyper-competitive next six weeks leading in to Survey 3.
