MadKids’ DAFUQ? now streaming on ABC iView
Described as “the hottest thing in non-mainstream cross-platform news”, DAFUQ? (as in, ‘what the…?’), is an original six-part web series produced by WA’s Mad Kids for ABC iView.
Just when you thought the trend of smug, hipster-halfwits attempting to try their hand at investigative online journalism couldn’t get worse, along comes the DAFUQ? team. Edgy reporters, Lee D (Matt Lovkis), Rift (Henry Inglis) and Pandora (Amberly Cull) are prepared to go where mainstream media isn’t and ask the questions they won’t.
In reality, they’re a group of self-important, attention-limited wannabes who like the idea of being gonzo-journalists but lack any of the necessary skills. Whatever the story, whether it is the leaking of military secrets, chasing down a prehistoric high, ISIS or bikie wars, DAFUQ?’s reporters will get to the heart of it – and make it all about themselves.
Written and directed by Inglis and Lovkis and produced by Lauren Elliott, the series was filmed at Fremantle Prison, Hyde Park and other recognizable locations.
All six episodes of DAFUQ? are now streaming on ABC iView.

Inglis has done some good stuff.Henry and Aaron Christmas is a classic. Central Tafe stuff was clever. Longer form is a bit more difficult to do. I tried to like this…

These guys have done some great work in the past, but the writing on this one just doesn’t hold, with very few laughs and I’m surprised the ABC thought that this deserved to be made with our tax dollars.
Secondly, the fact that the ISIS subject matter is used to generate ‘comedy’ is just a massive fail and shows how poorly or misunderstood this world evil is viewed upon by the younger generation.
