Open Spaces producer Béatrice Masia said it was a very emotional and challenging project

“Matt and I worked very closely together with the creative team at The Brand Agency to ensure that we delivered true and compelling stories without being overly dramatic.” said Masia.

The Brand Agency creative director Craig Buchanan said they were delighted with Pitcher’s work on the project.

“We wanted to give Matt, as a WA-based director, the opportunity to create something really authentic and he has delivered in spades.”

Having directed numerous short films and video-clips, the Meth films represent Pitcher’s directorial debut in advertising. Masia said Pitcher’s passion as a director lies in dynamic story telling. Whether it be raw drama or stylized comedy, it doesn’t matter, as no two stories are ever the same.

Whilst growing up, music and film always played a seismic role in Pitcher’s life, and have been paramount in the development of his craft. Born and raised in Perth, he made the commute to Sydney to study at AFTRS. Whilst there, he worked on a number of award-winning shorts, as well as building a strong creative network of friends and collaborators which he draws upon regularly.

A distinctive eye for cinematic visuals, authentic performances and immersive soundscapes drive Pitcher’s vision. He is constantly striving to create work with substance and longevity.

With an undeniable urge to see the sun set over water again, Pitcher now resides back in the West and is available for work anywhere there’s a good story to tell.
