Hancock Creative among four winners from WA at national final of 2015 Australian Web Awards
The national Australian Web Awards were presented on Friday night in Perth, with WA-based projects winning four categories.
Timothy Excell and Kylie Timpani won the Personal category with Two in Fifty Two.
Humaan won the Small Business category for Boat Equity.
Doghouse and Rusty Australia won the ecommerce category for Rusty Australia.
And Hancock Creative won the Social Media category for Jus Burgers.
The award-winning campaign, dubbed #honestlylocal, told the story of Jus Burgers, a local family-owned business committed to supporting local farmers and producers and selling genuinely fresh food. The campaign encompassed Facebook and Instagram and had a lean budget, but achieved mighty results increasing turnover in stores by 12-20%.
Hancock Creative director Alecia Hancock said social media provides an opportunity for small businesses to compete on equal footing to large businesses.
“The growth of social media has given small businesses and not for profits the chance to reach and engage their audience, without needing the extensive advertising budgets of big competitors.”
“It’s very exciting to have our family business recognised at a national level,” said Jus Burgers owner Justin Bell. “To win the award over finalists like Retail Zoo is such a great recognition for small business.”
Hancock says her goal in 2016 is to launch training programs to teach small businesses how they can succeed on social media with lean budgets.
