Why’d the Subservient Chicken cross the road?
To distance himself from online campaigns like this.
oh dear…
Why has this thread have almost as many comments as the twitter feed?
Hmmm. Not sure about the strategy of showing a live chicken in a commercial for a chicken burger company. Or are they setting up the possibility of a new menu featuring “Betty Burgers”?
GOLD!!! Totally love it. Awesome work guys.
My last comment wasn’t published. Some moderators just have no sense of humour.
Anyway, I’ll stick to the subject this time, by saying I’m struggling to see how this will sell more chicken, or even create any positive engagement with the market. Am I missing something?
Yeah, I’ll give it to you… Chicken Treat/Tweet is a great bit of wordplay, but should that nugget (and I’ll let you choose what kind of nugget) really dictate an entire campaign?
haha – love it
At first I was all scrunchy face, then I hung out on the Twitter feed for a while and had an awesome time. Really nice social media work guys, loved the Betty Inspirational Posters!
@Maxwell, the only thing that sells more chicken is cheaper chicken. And Chicken Treat already does plenty of lunchtime offers, sales and crap. Who cares? Give me 2 minutes of joy in my day, please.

Yes, Maxwell.
What came first the chicken or the egg? The serendipitous social rhyming or the strategy?
It’s fucking stupid. I love it.

Yes, getting plenty of free media space. People notice it and so the brand. Maybe they should have addressed Betty’s comfort more directly in the promo – made it clear she’s a well-loved pet. She’s getting very-well fed and the wire cage keeps her safe from cats. In the training video, shoving the hand-puppet into frame (clearly scaring her) and forcing her to uncomfortably walk the treadmill was probably ill-advised.
OK. I may have underestimated the lunacy of the internet. This crazy shit is so internet appropriate. Yeah, it won’t do FA for business, but what the heck… You go girl and type that word! #chickentweet
Sounds like maxwell works at chicken treat not in advertising..
@Maxwell It’s a’ chicken pecking at a keyboard. What don’t you get?
A Chicken Treat campaign out of Perth was the last thing I expected see being discussed on the local news here in New York last night.
Well done Marketforce.
A clever PR stunt and a great activation of the brand’s new fun positioning. It’s such a shame that after all her hard work, the Tits appear to have pecked Betty at the post.
