Instagram insights at #SMPerth
Around 60 Social Media professionals and aficionados gathered at Frisk Bar in Northbridge last night for #SMPerth’s September event. Sandra Holloway from Instaprint was the guest speaker, sharing insights on working with online mobile photo and video-sharing platform Instagram.
Social media strategist and SMPerth founder, Meg Coffey, said the key points Holloway made were that thinking outside the box for events is scalable – you don’t have to have Australian Open budgets to create authentic engaging campaigns (but if you do, watch out!!). The key today is finding a way to harness the content that’s being created and shared – Instaprint creates a tangible memento. If you’re going to create a hashtag for your event, be unique, think about what others might think to use that hashtag for to prevent crossover e.g. #crown v #crownresortsperth. There will be a lot of randomness on #crown. Also, as a startup, work hard and ask questions. If Instaprint hadn’t approached Instagram in the early days to work as a partner, they wouldn’t be at the level they are now as a preferred supplier.
