Vale Peter ‘Murph’ Murphy
Pacific Magazines sales executive Peter Murphy (pictured) passed away suddenly in Perth yesterday. He was working at the Seven Network office this week as Pacific Magazines WA and SA sales manager. Better known to his colleagues, friends and clients as ‘Murph’, he rotated between SA, WA and Melbourne representing Pacific’s magazine titles in those markets.
“It was a great shock to all and he leaves behind a loving family and many, many friends in agencies and sales across all Australia,” said Pacific chief executive Peter Zavecz. ”He was a larger than life character, a great mate of the late Peter Gallucci and media agency greats Annie Parsons, Allen Scash, Harold and Stewart Mitchell, Peter Bucklow, Mark Pejic and most of the major agency and sales people in Australia.”
In a career of around 40 years in the media, Murphy also spent time with News Limited, Southdown Press, ACP Magazines and Network Ten.
Seven senior sales executive Karen Bowler said “Murph was a much loved member of our Seven West Media Sales Team here in Perth. We will miss his unique sense of humour and his unrelenting one liners. You were one in a million Murph. You will be forever in our hearts.”

Rest peacefully Murph xx
I didn’t know Murph. But my wife always spoke very fondly of him so he must have been a good bloke. My thoughts are with his family.
A lovely gentlemen who could deliver magazines in one hand and deliciously wicked stories with the other. Murph will be sadly missed.
