Community Newspaper Group marks 30 year milestone with a month of celebrations in July
The party was in full swing throughout July as Community Newspaper Group celebrated 30 wonderful years in the community.
Media Buyers received a yummy surprise when Community’s Agency team shared the birthday joy with CNG branded cupcakes and a quirky (and delicious!) coffee van visit. Because nothing says birthday quite like cake or happiness with a hot cuppa on a cold morning!
Throughout July, CNG shared stories from the community over the last three decades and remembered fondly the days of the 80s. A consumer campaign with promotional partner Spudshed throughout the month gave away a share of $30,000 to lucky winners to celebrate 30 successful years. The month culminated in a 30th birthday function for staff on July 31st and the night was lit up with the glow of metre-high letters: CNG30! A live acoustic duo entertained the crowd throughout a night of music, food, drink and merriment.
CEO Alan Clyne spoke of the changes the newspaper industry had seen over the past 30 years, such as the development of colour printing, great strides in photographic technology, ad setting changes and the amazing digital revolution that has changed newspaper creation and seen social media create a whole new avenue of news delivery. He celebrated the growth of CNG from a handful of local newspapers to today’s total metro coverage from Mandurah to Two Rocks. At the end of his
speech he invited CNG’s longest serving employee of 29 ½ years, Photography Manager David Baylis, to cut the giant chocolate birthday cake in the shape of ’30’ to great cheers from the audience.
The local Perth community has seen big changes in the past 30 years and Community Newspaper Group has been there to share them. We look forward to sharing the stories of the next three decades with our readers and advertisers.
