Reece Hogan resigns from Nine Entertainment Company after eight years as sales director

Reece Hogan today announced his resignation as Sales Director of Nine Entertainment Company overseeing Channel Nine Perth and Mi9. Hogan (left) has been with the company more than 12 years, including nearly eight years as Sales Director.

“Resigning has been one of the toughest decisions of my life,” Hogan said. “Media is a big part of my life. My dad, Harold, ran a successful media representation company and I’ve been fortunate enough to lead a sale department with Australia’s most iconic entertainment brand.”

However, after more-than-a-decade, and three different owners of STW9, Hogan felt the time was now right to move on and embrace a new challenge.

“I’ve always harboured ambitions to run my own business and I have an interest in finance, having completed a commerce degree in marketing and finance,” Hogan said.

“So I thought I’d combine the two and have bought a Mortgage Choice franchise in the Northern Suburbs of Perth.”

Hogan admits changing careers mid-life is a daunting prospect, but it’s a decision he hasn’t made lightly.

“I’m going to miss NEC and the industry enormously,” Hogan said. “The cut and thrust of media, the never-ending excitement of the entertainment industry, and most importantly, the wonderful  people and their wide ranging personalities, will live in my memory forever.”

Hogan said he is leaving the company at a time when Nine Perth and Mi9 are in terrific shape and that was a factor in his decision-making.

“There were numerous challenges to overcome during my time as Sales Director,” Hogan said. “And whilst the challenges never go away, NEC’s ownership of Nine Perth means it is in safe hands, which is highly satisfying as I move on to the next stage of my career.”

“So I’m now ready to take on my own gig and have control over my own destiny, so whilst daunted at leaving NEC, I’m also very excited about what lies ahead.”

Hogan thanked his staff for their tireless commitment to the role, in particular Group Business Managers, Helen Filov, Chris Eyres and Brad Glass, who now runs Backline Media, for their unwavering support over the long term.

“I’d also like to thank Peter Wiltshire, Michael Stephenson, David Gyngell, David Mott and Emma-Jayne Owens,” Hogan said. “All five individuals are outstanding leaders of the company and I couldn’t have asked for better mentors.”

Hogan will finish at Nine at the end of March and will start his Mortgage Choice franchise in early April.
