Spice Girls tribute band blitzes ‘The Voice’ karaoke challenge at Dentsu Aegis Network

A Spice Girls tribute band featuring Kate McMahon (Powered) Vanessa Marino, Lisa Crowe (STW-9) and Gemma White (Mi9) were the smash-hit winners of the Carat/Vizeum/Mitchells karaoke spectacular on Friday. Their performance was a revelation – these girls could actually sing!

‘The Voice’ was the first in a series of monthly events with Dentsu Aegis Network agencies hosting one major media supplier for a night of industry silliness.

Karaoke is the ultimate leveller and on the night five bands battled it out for amazing trophies and general crowd adulation.

Rock divas Debra Neve and Astrida Rumbens, with K-pop sensation Alister Yuen, had the crowd in raptures with a powerhouse rendition of the B52’s Love Shack.

A brilliant new boy band was born. ‘Fat Kids on the Block’ (Tom Martin, Martin Horne,  Kevin Rapose and Nick Norton)had the stadium pulsating with their version of Wet Wet Wet’s Love is All Around Us.

They were followed on stage by an all-star Carat band featuring Paula Greten, Jess Johansson, Taylor Mendelawitz and Renee Lee who had libidos racing with a raunchy version of the Divinyls classic I Touch Myself.

The final act showcased the Britney Spears’ hit Baby One More Time  with pitch-perfect Chris Eyres supported by the incomparable voices of Bronwyn Robinson and Jules Elliot (WIN) on backing vocals.

Friday nights are rockin’ again on Fitzgerald Street.
